Now the Guoman Thistle. Have stayed here 3 times on leisure breaks with a coach tour, all at August Bank Holiday weekends. Hotel overlooks the River Thames on one side and St Katherine's Dock on the other. There are lots of boats coming & going from the dock which has a very interesting lock into the River Thames. Around the walkways of St Katherine's Dock are restaurants, shops and of course a Starbucks for that morning coffee! Swans & moorhens nest on a boardwalk in the dock and cormorants visit as well.
Butlers Wharf, with lots of riverside restaurants with outdoor heated eating areas, is just across Tower Bridge is a very popular eating area in the evening.
Rooms nicely furnished and clean and either overlook the River Thames or St Katherine's Dock. Staff usually helpful, especially on reception, which can get very busy. Bar inside hotel foyer is a pleasant area with hotel prices but reasonably priced snack foods. Bar in groundfloor restaurant, which spills onto the pavement overlooking the river is more pricey than the one in the foyer! Food in groundfloor restaurant is pricey for an evening meal and the restaurant on the 1st floor is even more expensive. If you do not want to eat in the hotel there are lots of restaurants just a short walk away. Continental breakfast is just OK but fruit juice was watered down and tasteless! Get there early for breakfast, if the hotel is busy, or you will be queueing!
If you are not in a hurry to get into London you can take the pleasant riverside walkways and see more of London. River trips from outside the hotel.

The Thistle Tower Bridge, is now one of the Thistle groups partner hotels - Gouman Hotels, and it look like it has had a refit. When I stayed here the breakfast was awful, and the quality poor. The price reflected location rather than the service I experienced. However looking at current tarrifs they appear to have lowered the room rates. Good first attempt. Just expand on all the point you make next time. Rach x
