I stayed here for 1 night in March. There was an event in the hotel and the organiser booked the hotel for me so I didn't how much it was. Breakfast was included and it was continental + English buffet breakfast.
Check-in was really slow. It took them about 10 minutes to sort out my room. There's always a long queue at the check-in desks whenever i went pass. Check-out was slow too.
Location: I must say that the location is very very good. Only a few minutes' walk from the Tower Hill tube station, all other attractions are easily accessible. Tower Bridge is right outside my window. The view was great! Butler's Wharf is near the hotel and there are lots of riverside restaurants. Alternatively, you can find a few restaurants and cafes next to the hotel.
Food: Breakfast was buffet style. I went to the restaurant at 7.30am and it was quite empty. Didn't have to wait to get a seat. The food was good. However, I wouldn't pay for breakfast if not included in my hotel rate because it's about £15. You can go to Starbucks which is just behind the hotel. For lunch, I ate at the Carvery on the upper floor. Buffet lunch. Food was really good. The view was great too. One thing about the hotel is that you have good views no matter in which part of the hotel you are. My lunch was paid for by the organiser so I have no idea how much it was. I saw the bill for the drinks though. 2 jugs of orange juice cost us £22.
Room: It's obvious that the furniture are not new. The room was dimly lit. All desk lamps were not working. There's a minibar in the room but there's nothing in it. My room was on the 2nd floor. It was a deluxe room and there were two single beds in it. A bathrobe was provided and it was a very comfortable one. The hotel said that many hotel guests have become collectors of their bathrobes and they urge guests not to take the bathrobe away. A new one could be exchanged for a few pounds. The bathroom size was ok. Body lotion, shampoo and shower gel were provided in small bottles. There's a hairdryer in the bathroom and one outside. Besides that, the room has an iron, ironing board, trouser press, a minisafe, a TV with pay channels.
There are more than 800 rooms in this hotel. My friend came at 11pm at night to check in but he was told that no room was reserved under his name. We didn't know whether the organiser made a mistake or the hotel made a mistake. The hotel said that all rooms were fully booked for the night and then they sent my friend to another Thistle hotel nearby. It was £156 and they told him it's the same rate as Tower Thistle.
I would not stay here if I have to pay for the room myself because it is too expensive and even though it says 4 star on the website, the quality is not really 4 star.

Advantages: On bank of Thames, next to Tower Bridge, Tower of London & St Katherine's Dock Disadvantages: Quite a way from Central London, drinks & restaurant expensive
