I recently flew with Thomas Cook airlines and, before flying, had been warned-" the foods bad and you have to wait ages for it" and "There's no leg room"
The latter is true enough, I dont know what the official figures state, but in terms of leg room this is one of the more cramped airlines I have flown with. I am around 5'5" however so this did not bother me. My travelling companion however, is 6'6"! The seat he was initially given was an aisle seat thankfully. However even so, it was inmpossible for him to get comfortable: not good if you have to spend 4 hours sat like that!
However, before the plane set off, the cabin crew noticed his discomfort and offered us a row to ourselves so he could spread out. "Great" we thought. And indeed it meant he had a comfortable trip. However, the cabin crew didnt stop there and made sure they took all our reference numbers so they could accomodate him on our return trip. For the return flight he was given a seat next to the main door in the middle of the plane which had no seat at all in front; perfect! He was able to stretch out to his heart's content!
The food was also excellent. On the way out; chicken breast in a pesto with potato wedges followed by chocolate mousse. On the return leg, a breakfast of sausage, egg, hash brown and beans accompanied by a blueberry muffin and a roll and jam. Tea, coffee and water were served free with the meals.
The only downside in terms of meals were that you had to pay for any drink you wanted seperately and although relatively inexpensive (approx 70p for a small can of pepsi) they were served around half an hour before the meal, and this was the only opportunity to purchase drinks.
I cant praise the cabin crew enough, they were so helpful; not only with the leg room issue but also in distributing blankets and pillows when the temperature dropped etc. There were no delays and both legs of the journey arrived ahead of schedule!

Lucky they don't have a vending machine on the plane ... not just yet!

I normally go with Thomas Cook and they aren't bad - though I can never see the TV because the seats are too high and I'm only about 4'10! x

First Choice seems very similar, the leg room is awful - I'm nearly 6 foot and my boyfriend is 6"1 and we just get so cramped if flying for more than a few hours! That's the only thing that puts me off flying, Sarah x
