Earlier this year, my partner and I booked a flight to Malaga from Birmingham airport. We had always flown Monarch Airlines previously, but this time the tickets came through from Britannia Airways. We didn’t think anything of it but when we arrived at the airport I did wonder whether we were on the wrong flight as we were allocated two seats on a plane chartered by Thomas Cook for a Saga (over 50s package holiday company) holiday tour. Every other person on our flight was over 50 and because it was a charter flight, there were an extra 12 rows of seats which means that you have no leg room and are not allowed to lower your seat (although nobody told us this until we did, and were hissed at by several octogenarians).
Check before you fly and if possible, book a seat near the front of the aircraft.
