I regularly fly from Coventry Airport to Amsterdam with Thomsonfly and although at first a little apprehensive about just how small Coventry airport really is, I was pleasantly surprised.
The staff are friendly and helpful, even in the car park and drop off zone at arrivals and departures, where it can sometimes be a bit of a bottle neck, as the area is so small.
The departures lounge is just as comfortable as any large airport and has a selection of drinks, snacks, newspapers and magazines available, as well as some duty free items.
Security is very tight, especially on arrival back at Coventry, which is very reassuring in today's climate.
The flights themselves are pretty basic, but you get what you pay for. I pay ca. £50 for a return flight to Amsterdam Schiphol. The flight attendants are polite, friendly and some are actually chatty! As mentioned in other reviews, you have to buy any drinks or food that you want on board, but it is resonably priced, at £1.50 for a cup of tetley tea, £3.50 for a sandwich, 50p for a chocolate bar.... I have been delayed by 10 to 15 minutes a couple of times, but it is always well signed at both airports, and the delay is normally made up in flight.
The website, where yo book your tickets is very easy to use and very quick too. It is worth registering if you plan to fly frequently from the airport, as the system then stores you details, making booking even easier and quicker.
My only complaint is that I have never experienced a smooth landing at Coventry airport (maybe it is the runway surface, rather than the pilot?) and thought I was going to be sick, when I landed last night at Coventry!!
All in all, excellent value for money and good customer service makes this the 1st choice for me when taking a short city break.
