It is only yesterday that I flew from Alicante to Manchester with Thomson Fly. This was my first time with them since they have changed from britannia, and I have to say I was impressed. We never buy package holidays, and flew out to Spain with monarch, so this was only a one way flight. I have to say that all in all I was quite impressed...
THE PLANE... Our plane was a boeing 767-300, which I had been on once before when I flew from palma to manchester with britannia, so I knew how big they were. The seats were of a 2-4-2 formation, which I am fine with so long as I am not sat in and of the middle two seats as I like an isle or window. The plane was the largest in their fleet though they do have others, all boeings. Personally I have problems with my ears when landing on planes, however these problems seem much lesser when I am on a boeing and I do not know why. On the other hand
my mum has problems, and finds smaller planes are easier to cope with. As we walked on board from the bus that took us to the plane we were strook instantly by the planes size. I have never been a fan of large planes though this one was quite nice. The blue leather seats were reasonably comfortable, though quite cramped. The plane had a very new and modern feel to it although there were major give away signs which suggested it was quite old. These include equipment labelled "britannia" and large TV in the isles as apposed to small ones above seats. The washrooms were also very large as far as plane toilets go however the first one I went to had no soap so I had to walk the two metres from the AB seat side of the plane to the GH seat side of the plane. Generally a very nice plane.
THE FLIGHT/PUNCUALITY... We boarded on time however 5 minutes before take off time people were still boarding so we were aware something was not right. When it seemed there were no more passengers to board the plane all of the staff started running around frantically counting people and trying to figure who was where and why. We were left with no news for 10 minutes of this until we were told they were a passenger short and had to find her before the plane departed, but by the time this announcement was put out everyone, especially babies and including myself was getting restless. All in all we took off around 15-20 minutes late and the captain informeed us the we were going to fly a slightly diferent route that fewer planes use and where he could get speed up and hopefully make up lost time. He did make up lost time and we actually landed about 10 minutes earlier than scheduled. There was minimal turbulance so other than the initial small delay very good.
FOOD... The food was not the best I have encountered although it was very good. Th fanvy Zilli name made it sound alot better than it really was, but never the less a nice meal. A pasta to start followed by beef paizzioli(pronounced pie-its-e-o-li, if you've heard of one of them before well done!). To finish was a small Glazed apple caramel with creamy custard, or to the normal people out there an apple pastry with some custard in the bottom of the dish, never the less very nice. You also got a herbed breadcake with butter (not to everyone's taste), but I liked it. There was also cheese and crackers and a choice of tea or coffee, all at £6.50.
SHOP... The onboard sho was one of the best I have come across. It sold a great variety of items at good prices, and even with special offers too. Yet another good part to the airline.
STAFF... The staff were friendly and very helpful, as well as being very fast, trust me fast was not good, as they did not give you enough time to do anything. They were always smiling and happy to help. The captain was friendly and was good at communicting with the passengers. The only one thing that strook me was that the air hostesses were not as good looking as you may get on other airlnes, and for some reason they always wore aprons over what would otherwise have been a smart and pretty nice uniform.
OTHER NOTES... Just two more things I would like to add, and unfortunately it is a negative. In flight it was announced that all people 16 and over should complete a questionnare sheet that was to come around. I am 16 so this 16 or over remark did not affect me, but many people using the airline were families, with children. This to me says that children should be seen and not heard and when people discriminate against children in this way I find it extremely disgraceful and annoying, as well as discriminatory. There was a disabled peron on our flight who was very well catered for and sat at the front. It seemed that he was very well looked after so needless to say if you are disabled thomson is a disabled friendly airline.
All in all a very good airline, and i would reccomend them to people. I enjoyed flying with them although I do still prefer monarch (scheduled-ZB) above all others.

I think that unless they are saying that only those who paid for the holiday themselves should fill in the questionnaire that everyone should get to whatever their age......

Great review. I think the reason they ask for 16 and over to fill in the forms is because under that age is unlikely to have paid for their own trip. Not sure really however.
