My better half of over 40 years was feeling the need to visit Holy Island (lindesfarne), so i had been looking.
Then saw an old working mate passing thru Nottingham station, where I work, Where have you been Lindesfarne he says, he recommends staying at Berwick, on the main line, and has a Bus service linked to the Tide Timetable that calls at the Station.
So looked for B & B's in Berwick, fell upon www.berwickbedandbreakfast.co.uk this site gives about 20 places. Most seemed booked but got two nights at Ben More House.
When we arrived, there were many NO VANCANCY signs up. It transpired it was Heritage Weekend with an OPEN DOORS policy, which meant FREE ENTRY to all places, what a bonus.

I decided to stay at the Chilston Parkhotel by accident really. On lastminute.com they have this promo called 'Top Secret Hotels,' this basically means that they tell you where you are staying in terms of location but don't tell you the name of the hotel until after you book. After looking for top secret hotels near me, I decided I would crack the system. There was a short description of the hotel on the website; some person had named the restaurant in the 'secret' hotel so I googled the restaurant and it came up with Chilston park. It was £77 but I decided to look on the actual website for Chilston Park. I saw a deal £99 for a stay on a Thursday night with a three course meal, champagne and canopes and breakfast. I booked this deal for two people. I stayed here on the 22nd January 2009 with my boyfriend for his birthday.

ok but nothing special and its mainly full of youngsters and when i say young i mean young. Younger than me and im only 21! The shopping is good, theres quite a few of your regular high street shops plus plenty of others. Theres Woolworths, boots, burtond, dorothy perkins and new look and some sports shops too.
You dont really need to worry about not having anything to do in Berwick though as its directly in between two big cities, Edinburgh and Newcastle. There both about 40 minutes away and the trains run quite often from the station.
If you did want to do something in Berwick you could go and watch the Berwick Rangers who are the only English team to play in the Scottish league. The pitch is in tweedmouth, berwickupontweed. Its actually viewable from my boyfriends house. And on a Saturday night it turns into speedway, it can ...
