, hahaha. He's pretty awesome at haggling, and I spied the Dell a few minutes ago. What initially annoyed me about Dell was all the freeware they put on their machines. My friend (who is really into computers) told me that it makes their machines slow, so I was avoiding the Dell like the plague.
Anyways, I figured (during the long process of "I need Microsoft Office") that I could ask the University IT staff to take off the Dell freeware I didn't need (image editing and video editing stuff especially). Besides that, the Dell I got was a display model. So my trusty stepdad managed to get a copy of MO&Home Student and Norton Antivirus and a free bag for £489, which isn't bad at all, including the laptop!
Having had it for 3 days now, I can safely say I got a bargain. It's pretty stylish (good for lecture brownie points!), quick to shut down ...

This laptop is really good. however I have owned mine for just under a year now and the battery has broken so I need to get it fixed which is very annoying. Apart from the battery breaking I think that the laptop is great and I would buy a Dell laptop again. I use my laptop everyday but i would have expected the batttery to last longer, especially seeing as it is dell. Now I have the hassel of getting the battery fixed. I would still reccomend this dell laptop to other people as it is good value for money and looks nice etc and apart from the battery the laptop is easy to use and I haven't had any other problems with it. Dell is usually a reliable service and hopefully it wont be too bad having to get the battery fix, if not then I can buy a new battery. ...
