Having seen an ad in the paper for a company called The Paradise Group, I was curious and went along for an interview. The salary looked good (£25k) and during my 2 week training with an ex IBM trainer(?) I was 'sold' the dream about selling Timeshare.
Things had apparently come along considerably since the 80's bad press and resorts were all finished, of an excellent standard 5 crowns (5star+) and you didn't have to go to the same place at the same time each year, year in year out. You could join a club (forgot the name) and bank your holiday, changing it for another destination and time period and enjoy holidays around the world at the same high standard.
Sounds great doesn't it?
It is really! The conn starts when you want sell your timeshare. Because you have to pay towards the cost of maintaining your timeshare each year, which runs into the hundreds of pounds, and these things are for life, you may find that you can't afford it and
want to sell it on.
You phone WORLDWIDE TIMESHARE HYPERMARKET who tell you they act as an estate agent who have hundreds of buyers on their books, they will do all the leg work and let you know when someone is interested and makes you an offer.
Say you bought your luxury timeshare in India for £6000 and you were told that 'like a house, they go up in value' over time. They promise you they'll get the best possible price for your property, now you want to sell it. 'thats my job'! they tell you. You register with WORLDWIDE TIMESHARE HYPERMARKET. You don't hear anything for a couple of weeks or months. Then you get a phonecall from 'a senior agent'. He tells you that no one has been interested and dispite their best efforts to sell the property, people insist that the price is too high. If you want to sell your timeshare, you must be prepared to lower the price. So you believe them and lower it a bit.
They then suggest you lower it to £1000. Of course you laugh at them, but they assure you that that is the only way you're going to sell your luxury timeshare as the going rate has gone down and people aren't prepared to apy that much.
They say so be it, but you won't sell it sir! They leave you alone again for a few more months. You have to keep paying your maintenence fees and are starting to get a little bit fed up of waiting.
You get another phonecall from a chirpy 'agent' who says they have someone interested in buying today, but will not be prepared to pay more than £600. This is when you get barraged with phonecalls from different chirpy 'agents' saying people are making offers of between £250 - £500
At this point you are sick to death of being badgered and just want rid of the thing... You reluctently agree to the sale, maybe having being told that the disabled couple buying it are exstatic with their purchase.
The so called agent, who is really just a con artist sells the timeshare to the family who have rung up having seen adverts in the Mail and Mirror for probably more than what you bought it for. I saw a guy I worked with, sell a £200 Timeshare (that was bought by previous owners for £6000) for £20000, yes not a typing error TWENTY THOUSAND POUNDS. He pocketed himself 10% of the profits and the fat boss got the rest.
They even have the cheek to charge you admin and processing fees for selling your timeshare, while you get ripped off for THOUSANDS AND THOUSANDS OF POUNDS.
Basically we were told that we're to get the best possible price from the sucker selling, and then sell it on to another idiot for thousands. 'Just make up a price based on what you think the idiot on the phone will pay' I was told. It doesn't feel like your being canvassed because you enquired to them in the first place. Somehow, that made the victims drop their guards.
I never sold a timeshare there and I'm glad I didn't. The lure of all that lovely money that could be earned wasn't enough for me to con normal everyday people out of their lifesavings.
BEWARE OF SEEING ADVERTS IN THE NEWSPAPERS, THEY WILL BE OUT TO CON YOU FOR EVERY PENNY YOU HAVE. IF YOU WANT TO SELL YOUR TIMESHARE, DO IT PRIVATELY - ON EBAY. THAT WAY YOU KNOW WHATS GOING ON AND WILL GET A GOOD PRICE FOR IT.
The boss even said they helped to write the Timeshare law and control most of the industry. If thats true, then the law truly is corrupt!!!
It was a scary and sobering thought to think of all the people who had entrusted their property with this company and been robbed of it.
PLEASE NEVER EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE!!! YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!
How helpful would this review be to a person making a buying decision? Rating guidelines
I cannot understand were this lady is coming from, is she just a disgruntled employee, like the majority of the moaners who leave silly messages thinking that they can discredit the company or is it just another company? I have sold various weeks through Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket where the other companies have been unable to and contrary to what has been said they have always negotiated a price with me first. Lets be honest everyone is in business to make money whether buying or selling (otherwise there would be no e-bay)as long as you are happy with what you receive then there should be no problem with what they sell it for. As far as resale companies go they do whatever they say they are going to do and in my case they sold my weeks at a price that I was happy to receive. Unlike other companies Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket do not take any registration fees they will advertise your weeks Nationaly for free so they are not in the business of conning people out of money. I personally would reccommend anyone who is selling their timeshare weeks to give Worldwide Timeshare Hypermarket a try as I have been very successfull in selling mine through them.

Thanks for the warning! I was planning to sell my CLC timeshare points via this company but I think I will try it privately or via ebay now!
