Hotel Ibis Ornano, Montmartre, Paris

Advantages: Great value for money, great location and easy access
Disadvantages: None

This hotel is great value for money. Situated very near to Montmartre it is an ideal base for seeing Paris on a budget. With good Metro access (Porte de Clignancourt) is only a couple of minutes walk, it is easy to get to from any of the main railway stations and easy to reach all of the attractions of Paris by Metro or bus. In the immediate area, there is a special bus service that will take you up the hill to Montmartre for a visit to the Sacre Coeur and the Place due Tertre where artists still gather. Then hop back on the bus to go to down the hill to the Place Pigalle, location of the Moulin Rouge. A Paris Visite travel card (available for 1 to 5 days) will give you travel on buses, Metro and trains across all of Paris. With many other attractions in the area, the Hotel Ornano is well situated for great bars ...

Review of Ibis Ornano Montmartre north, Paris

Decent budget hotel in Paris

Advantages: Cheap (by Parisian standards), location not bad, quiet and safe area
Disadvantages: Tiny room, bed a bit worn out, cold bathroom

Goal Our goal for a hotel in Paris this time was to find a decent hotel at a low price and centrally located. There are thousands of hotels in Paris and it is not easy to know which site to use to book a hotel and which area to stay in. I'm not sure how we narrowed it down to Tim hotel Tour Eiffel but our checking included reading some reviews at TripAdvisor and it looked like it fit our profile. We booked through the hotel's homepage directly and we paid an average of 86 ? per night for the room (a total of 608 ?) for the week. The hotel It was very easy to find the hotel when we came to Paris. We arrived at the metro station Dupleix and the hotel entrance was located just a minute walk around the corner. Check in was fast and we got room 41 on the 4th floor. The reception was typical for a small hotel in a European city ...

Review of Timhotel Tour Eiffel, Paris

Sacre-Coeur and Montmartre, Paris, France

Advantages: best view in all Paris
Disadvantages: lots of narrow staris up to the Dome

Sacré-Coeur, or 'Sacred Heart', is located at the top of Montmartre, or 'Martyr's Hill', which is the highest hill in Paris. It was built to commemorate the Communard rebels who were killed while resisting the invading Cossacks. They were hiding inside the chalk mines when the exits were blown up by the troops sent by the National Government at Versailles. Construction was started in 1876, and finally finished nearly 40 years later. How to Get There The nearest métro station is Abbesses. From there you can walk to the bottom of the hill. Take a good street map, as the signs are not very clear. If you don't have the energy to walk up the steps, then you can take the funiculaire (funicular railway) at the Place Saint-Pierre. What you Will Find The Church is still in use, so entrance is free. Silence must be observed, and a donation ...
