I stayed in the TimhotelTour Eiffel from the 17th to the 18th of March with my boyfriend. We booked the holiday through Thomson.co.uk and it cost 86 pounds for the two of us for one night.
The trip was for my 21st birthday, and since we were there for only a short time and were mainly there for siteseeing, the hotel was basically just a base camp for us.
The reason we chose the hotel was mainly because it was pretty cheap, and we liked the idea that it was so close to the Eiffel Tower, and also because of it's close proximity to the Metro Station (Dupleix), as we didn't quite fancy having to wander about Paris trying to find our hotel!!
As it was, once we'd managed to actually get on a Metro (our sense of direction wasn't too good!) and get off at the right stop, it turned out even though it was 'right next to the station' we still took a while to find it! Tip - once you get off at the Dupleix station literally just cross the road (so Eiffel Tower is behind you) and its just up a little street and to the left. There is a map beside the station with the Rue Juge on it so if you're better map readers than we are then it should be easy!!
When we finally made it to our hotel, hungry and tired, we checked ourselves in (lovely desk staff, they speak English and can help you with directions to places if you need it) and got in the TINY lift up to our room. If you have a lot of luggage you will need to take a few trips up in the lift, as it literally holds two people with a small case each - not one for the claustrophobic!!
Then into our room, which we were pleasantly suprised with! It had a large bed (queen size I think?), wardrobe, desk, TV, two large windows (although our view was of the other side of the narrow street!) and a very nice, modern bathroom. There didn't appear to be much storage space in the room, so if you were staying for more than a few days it might be an issue, but it was fine for us.
There weren't any tea and coffee making facilities in our room, not that we were that bothered anyway as we were only staying a night. The TV had around 6 or 7 channels on it, including MTV and BBC World. However the BBC channel seemed to be the only one where the sound was interrupted by loud cracking, which was a bit annoying. But like I said, we were there for the sightseeing so having no TV wasn't an issue!!
After we'd unpacked we went to the Italian restaurant across the street which I'd highly recommend, the food was lovely and not over-priced, and the staff were friendly - considering my boyfriend's appalling attempt to order our food in French!!
After dinner we went for a walk to the Eiffel Tower which literally took 5 minutes and it was really nice to see it all lit up at night - would definitely recommend a moonlit walk to see it.
After a pleasant nights stay in the hotel (the street was nice and quiet, as were the neighbouring guests) we got up and headed down for breakfast. There wasn't really that much choice - cereal, pastries, toast, tea , coffee and juice - and after about 10.30 all the food had gone, so I'd recommend going early.
When we went back up to our room after breakfast our key-card didn't seem to be working in our door, so after about 20 tries we decided to just go back down to the reception desk, and they sorted it in a few seconds. So if that happens to you, don't waste time re-scanning, just pop downstairs and they'll help you.
Overall it was a pleasant flying visit. The hotel was clean and the rooms were nice and homely. I'd recommend it for couples or people who are just looking for a basecamp while they sightsee in the city. It was definitely good value for money, and if I visit Paris again I'd definitely choose to stay here.
