Tivoli Gardens - the centre of Copenhagen

Advantages: Red noses, cold hands and wonder galore - a must do Christmas experience
Disadvantages: It gets might darned cold!!!

...city. I had heard of Tivoli but didn't know just what it was.

Tivoli is in fact the oldest amusement park of the world . It is said that it was Tivoli that inspired Walt Disney to build Disneyland.
The park opened on August 15, 1843 and was designed by Georg Carstensen who said of Tivoli in 1844, "Tivoli will never, so to speak, be finished," and he was right, it has changed and grown over the years.

...people give bad reviews of Tivoli gardens, but I think the reason for this is that they are expecting a 'Disney' type park - that is not what Tivoli is about - it is an amusement park that has timeless charm and class that you can't get anywhere else. Tivoli Gardens truly is a remarkable place. There are beautiful gardens, wonderful restaurants and entertainment. With great rides for both children and adults.

I have never been to Tivoli ... more

A journey back in time - to 1982.

Advantages: Erm....... It's quite pretty I suppose
Disadvantages: Cost, size and attractions.

Tivoli Gardens - Copenhagen We recently spent a pleasant weekend in Copenhagen and one of the most popular attractions in that lovely city is the Tivoli Pleasure Gardens. Hard to avoid it occupies a prime site and is usually Chapter One in most guide books. Before travelling I'd read mixed reviews of the gardens; some eulogised it as a timeless paradise, others claimed it was over-hyped, over crowded and over priced. Although I had severe misgivings ...
...pound. Location ~ The Tivoli Pleasure Gardens are set in a surprisingly compact square in the centre of town between Radhuspladsen and Central Station; you could walk the surrounding block in under twenty minutes. There are several entrances around the park, and transport to the site is straightforward with a metro station in Radhuspladsen. Tivoli Gardens ~ Tivoli is an amusement park and pleasure garden dating from 1843 and is one of the oldest ...

The Splendor of the Tivoil

Advantages: Something Very Special
Disadvantages: Have plenty of Euros in your pocket

I visited the Tivoli Gardens at christmas time. If you are looking for somthing extra special I recommend the Tivoli. It is a fantastic family place to visit, even if you are visiting Denmark by yourself or with just your parnter it is something that should not be missed. You purchase your enterance ticket which is approximatly 25 euros per adult. If you go as a family you can get a family one for about 65 euros (2 adults and 2 kids). Once inside ...
...santa's grottos one at each end of the Tivoli. You need to dedicate at least 3 or 4 hours to have a good look around and to be able to ride on all of the rides. The Tivoli is just across the road from Copenhagen Centeral Station. ...

Tivoli. Lovely Location, Pathetic Prices

Advantages: central location
Disadvantages: dreadful customer service

...to want to visit the tivoli gardens during my stay in copenhagen. It cost 16 euros for one adult and one child, purely for admission and not including anything else. I was there 2 hours and only managed to get on 1 ride. mainly due to the outrageous queues, and only 2 places where you could buy tickets in the entire park. Even if you wanted to pay by credit cards, the vending machine kiosks (80% of which didn't work) were unreliable and i heard a ...
...She really did have The Tivoli as her main loyalty and not customer. The theatre was ropey, and 7 foot people blocked the view for all. the sideshow staff didn't care and were running 3 at once, the 'entertainment' machine kept your kroner and provided no entertainment, i just walked around, getting tired and poor. The rides there cost 4 tickets (at 1.5 euro a time) making it dead expensive for the budget visitor. i would NOT recommend it. (at all). ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "Tivoli Gardens, Copenhagen"

I';ve been to Tivoli Gardens in Copenhagen - this doesn't compare

Advantages: Beautiful settings
Disadvantages: A lame tired old theme park!!

TIVOLI WORLD BENALMADENA We visited Tivoli World on the Costa del Sol when we were staying at Benalmadena Costa, close to Malaga. Tivoli World is in the Arroyo de la Miel isr egion of Benalmadena halfway between Pueblo Benalmadena in the mountains and Benalmadena Costa on the coast. As well as a theme park Tivolii World holds a market ( which they call a Bric-a-Brac Garden Market) from 11am to 1pm each Sunday and cthis osts 1 euro for each adult to get in. Basically this is a Spanish car boot sale !! The gardens themselves are very pretty with fountains and birds. The Spanish claim that there are over 30 rides and attractions - I don't personally think they are very good at maths!!! They also claim that it is 'Similar to Disney' again their observation skills seem a little lapse ...

On the Square

Advantages: Good location, good standard, clean and pleasant
Disadvantages: A bit anonymous

The Square is a mid priced hotel situated in the heart of Copenhagen, on Radhuspladsen and overlooking Tivoli Gardens. A short walk from the Central Station it is very handy for transfers from the airport and provides an excellent base for touring the city. Part of the ARP-Hansen Hotel Group it is one of several hotels in Copenhagen and like their other properties offers a good standard of accommodation geared towards the modern business or tourist traveller. Location ~ Despite the claims that the hotel overlooks Tivoli gardens this is somewhat misleading. Granted, from the top (6th) floor you can see the giant Tivoli sign but that's about it. There aren't really any other views available as it isn't in the prettiest part of town. A few minutes from the station it occupies a large portion of an unprepossessing retail ...

Wagamama - Copenhagen

Advantages: Reliable menu - 'atmosphere'
Disadvantages: Slow service, disjointed delivery and noisy

Wagamama - Tivoli, Copenhagen Having established themselves in the UK over the past 15 years, Wagamama have now begun to spread their wings abroad venturing across Europe and into the United States. The new outlet in Copenhagen has taken a prime site in Tivoli Gardens with entrances from the park and the street outside. I dread to think what the ground rent for such a site would be but Wagamama is a popular, high volume restaurant which is invariably very busy. What is Wagamama? ~ Wagamama serves a mixture Japanese noodle and curry dishes. The menu is pretty much the same in any outlet and the one in Tivoli looked very similar to the ones in Covent Garden and Bloomsbury I've been to in the past. The template for each restaurant is the same and this one is no different. Seating is on long communal benches which you will share ...
