Hotel Roma - Lisbon

Advantages: The buffet breakfast was quite good
Disadvantages: Unfortunately, lots!

I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of February 2008 and paid £50.30 per night for the room, plus an online booking fee. This was my first visit to Portugal and I chose this hotel as I thought it looked okay in the online photographs, because it had a swimming pool etc and because I thought it was close to the airport. Unfortunately, I was somewhat disappointed. The hotel was not within walking distance of the airport and so I had to get a taxi. I found that Roma was not the most upmarket of areas and as I was travelling alone felt rather nervous. The lobby to the hotel looks quite impressive and the staff are well turned out, but I did not find them particularly friendly. My room was pretty basic and very cold - no carpet and the heater did not work. Also, the view from the window looked down upon the dreary, grey back ...

Review of Roma Hotel, Lisbon

hotel Le Tivoli, Agadir, Morocco

Advantages: lovely clean hotel, friendly, english speaking
Disadvantages: none

. The maid came every day to throughly clean the room and our sheets were changed three times during our week long stay. The restaurant was very clean and well decorated, and there were always plenty of tables to choose from. Meals were all buffet style, and there was always plenty to choose from. The breakfasts were of a good standard, but were fairly repetitive and the scrambled eggs were to die for! Dinners were always great, something for everyone - and a different theme every night, even my fussy 4 and 7 year olds found plenty to eat with the large choice of dishes available. The cost of drinks to accompany our meals added up over the week,so leave aide plenty of money for this. Buy water outside the hotel as it is quite expensive from the bar, and there is a supermarket within shouting didtance of the hotel. The swimming pool ...

Review of Tivoli Hotel, Agadir

Loquacious Lisbon

Advantages: A Vibrant City with a Cosmopolitan Atmosphere
Disadvantages: A bit hilly for some

of the 20th century and the construction of faceless squares that could be anywhere in the world. Banks, offices and fashion houses now occupy these prime sites rather than fine blocks of flats and houses. When I worked in Lisbon this was the main street I walked up every day. I used to stroll up the Avenida as far as Praca Marques de Pombal which is a junction and often referred to as a Rotunda. This is the Portuguese word for roundabout and it is famous because of the huge statue of Pombal on horseback. Many important thoroughfares meet here. I used to work on the hill to the north of the rotunda close to the Parque Eduardo VII. Some of Lisbon's top hotels are to be found on the western edge while the terrace at the upper end serves as a lookout point with a unique view over the Avenida da Liberdade and the river. Just below lies Estufa Fria ...
