Tivoli Marinotel, Vilamoura

We visited last September for a weeks holiday to the Tivoli Marinotel on bed and breakfast basis, previously we had stayed at this hotel a few years back as a family, thus the reason for visiting again. First impressions on arrival were good, as we were greeted by the concierge immediately who welcomed us to the hotel.

The five-star Tivoli Marinotel has a mixture of leisure and sports facilities, is situated on 30,000 square metres of landscaped gardens, has direct access to a magnificent reserved beach and has its own Vilamoura Congress Centre, within the hotel.

The Tivoli has a privileged location in the heart of the well-known resort of Vilamoura in the Algarve, with its marina, infra-structure and non-stop, year-round entertainment. All this, a mere 20 km from Faro airport.

The hotel itself was probably the best we've stayed in,the staff were very friendly and helpfull,the breakfasts were great and the room was lovely.

The hotel has 383 rooms, with sea or marina view, including 1 Presidential suite, 2 Executive suites, 18 Jr. suites, 322 twin rooms and 40 rooms with double beds. All the rooms are fully equipped with: Individual air conditioning, Satellite TV, radio and video channel, pay-TV, internet connection, and voice mail, Direct outside telephone line, Safe, Hairdryer, Mini-bar and 24h room service.

There is a wide range of hotels and bars at the hotel area. The Sirius-Restaurant Grill is a sophisticated restaurant which enjoys a superb view over the marina. Its a la carte service and specialises in international cuisine, to the sound of live music, opening hours from 19.30 to 23.00. The Aries Restaurant you can get American-style buffet breakfasts and at lunch and dinner Portuguese and international dishes, it overlooks the hotel gardens. The opening hours are from 07.30 to 10.30 (breakfast), 12:30 to 15:00 (lunch) and 19:30 to 22.00 (dinner). Drinks are at the Castor Bar, overlooking the marina whereby live bands play from 10.30 until 01.00.

Tivoli Marinotel has 2 outdoor swimming pools (1 for children), an indoor heated swimming pool, a health club offering sauna, jacuzzi, turkish bath, massage and gymnasium, 2 tennis courts and beach volley court, golf driving range and putting Green, a children’s playroom and baby-sitting services. Beach services include a bar and rental of shades and mattresses.

The Hotel is 20km from Faro airport and it would take around 15 - 20 minutes to get there by car. Marina is next to the Hotel whereby there are Discos, Bars, Restaurants. Shops and the casino are 5 minutes away. The Aqua Park is 5 km and the Cinema is 10 minutes. Tennis club with 12 courts is 1 km, so is Bowling. Horse riding centre is 2 km and Golf is 2 km, they have 11 courses within an area of 10 km.

A true 5 star hotel in every sense and in a prime position and £500 each for seven nights in a superb marina view room. The grounds are beautiful and there is plenty of room for sunbathing.

Clean rooms, excellent breakfasts and friendly and helpful staff. Sitting at one end of the marina and five minutes from the excellent Lakshmi Indian Restaurant, a oasis in a desert of very good restaurants and bars.

This hotel is the best in the resort overall, it has the best location too, you fall out of the front doors and into the 19th Hole, the first bar on the Marina.
The pool area backs onto a beautiful sandy beach too so you cannot get a better location in Villamoura.

Every Wednesday they have a market which is a short walk away (about 20 minutes) but excellent for bargains for leather, lace and more, worth a visit.

On arrival the staff were very pleasant and provided us with a marina facing room. The rooms are comfortable, satellite tv (including BBC) and great views. Breakfast is a feast which will keep you going thru the day apart from say a coffee/pastry early afternoon.We had the indoor pool to ourselves ( open 8am to 8pm) before breakfast. The outdoor pools looked great but a bit cool to swim in.

Vilamoura is nicer off season. Quiet but with most places open. We discovered a lovely family run ( 30 year history) restaurant "Colonial" on the opposite side of the marina from the hotel, off the marina in a side street. Excellent cooking/value - monkfish with prawns for Euro 14, Chicken peri peri for Euro 6.50, no high premiums on very good Portugese wines.

Rooms cleaned everyday and also checked again at night, beds turned down. If you wished you could also have clean sheets everyday. Kettle in room to have tea or coffee, and there is also an ice machine on each floor, which was great having cold drinks by the pool everyday.

There is a little shop in the lobby which does for all manner of newspapers. The hotel is situated not even 5 minutes from a vast array of shops, newsagents, chemists, restaurants etc. Whilst not the most exciting of places it is to be recomended for a relaxing break.

We took one of the boat trips on the Sail boat which is situated again 2 minutes from the hotel. Very good value and filled a day. Apart from this we pretty much took it easy at pool and beach.

The weather was fantastic the full week we were there.

This was our 2nd time in Vilamoura , and I would certainly go back to this hotel. We would absolutley recomend staying in this hotel. Great trip!!
