ConsContains nuts!

Carvery food 'Home of the Roast' Toby visually is a British simulacrum of a Texan Ranch, excluding the array of cowboy hats on a stand, and aborted horse saddle hanging from a wooden beam. For three decades Toby Carvery has unflappably emerged with 150 Toby Ranches (sorry Branches) across Britain...

I'm sure there are many people who will comment on this review that they love their local Toby Carvery, go religiously, and never have bad service. These are the people who will say it is unfair for me to go once, and then review this place. They will moan that I am letting one bad experience...

ConsHas been a bit hit and miss on occasions.

This review is based on my local Carvery which is Harlow, Essex and I have been to a few Carverys over the past few years and found them all to be very similar in terms of service, waiting time & food quality. Toby Carvery is a restaurant with a separate bar area which allows people to turn up...

My fiance and I decided to go out for dinner tonight as we had a bit of good news to celebrate. Neither of us are the type to go to a ‘posh’ restaurant and I’m finding spicy food a little difficult at the moment so we decided that a Carvery would be just the thing. The nearest of these...

Progreat food, great atmosphere

ConsNone

Ah Toby Carvery, even the thought of the place brings a smile to my face and a little rumbling in my belly! I predominantly use 2 of these restaurants, one in Worcester Park, Surrey and one in Washington, Tyne & Wear. As it is a chain and these 2 restaurants are very similar I decided to just...

ConsNot allowed any more meat

I first went to Toby Carvery when one opened local to me. The sign outside was advertising a full carvery for £5.50 which sounded like a bargain so we decided to try it. The first time we went was actually valentines day and it was very busy. We had to wait for a table for about 25 minutes but it...

I have eaten at the Toby Carvery for many years of my life and when I lived in Newport, I always visited the Coldra branch in Chepstow Road, near the M4. This Toby had ample seating and a good layout of the carvery-serving area with the meat on the right, vegetables in the middle and gravies and...

I made my first visit to Toby Cavery last week when I took my parents there as a treat for Sunday lunch. I'm not a huge fan of roast dinners like these as much these days, but that's probably because I ate them so much when I was younger (minus the veggies!) but I knew my parents would like it...

I have only been to two Toby Carveries; the one in Barnet and the one in Borehamwood. My experiences at both have varied. When I went to the Barnet Carvery I was not impressed. The décor was awful and outdated and the place generally looked a bit dirty. Most of the food I ate there was fine, but...

Procheap, nice food, good service

Conswaiting list, can be quite noisy

The Toby Carvery is a cheap and cheery place to have a nice Sunday lunch. My local one is in Ewell and we like it so much I reckon we go there at least once a month. For around £8 you get a choice of three freshly roasted joints: 1) British and Irish roast beef 2) French trimmed honey and mustard...

“Good Food, Great Price!”

published 04/08/2009

Progood food

Cons-

Toby Carvery is a great idea and it is such an easy option for a healthy meal for the whole family. They have chains all over the country and pubs are usually large with plenty of tables. This pub sells mostly carvery food. They have 2 options - eating before 7 pm for £5 or after 7pm for £7.50...

Proquick service, eat as much as you like

Consbusy atmosphere

This is a pub which prides itself in it's cavery. It is a chain so you can find them all around the country. When you see the Toby Carvery sign you know what exactly it is you're going to get; a carvery! I occasionally go to the Toby Carvery near where I live and think that it is an alright place...
