Sensoji and the Gate of Thunder
Review of Sensoji Temple, Tokyo by medgenie

Advantages: Interesting
Disadvantages: NA

Kaminarimon(or Gate of Thunder) is the symbol of Tokyo and it leads to the temple of Sensoji. At the entrance of the temple, there are shops selling charms for difference purposes-safe journey, good health, getting rich, meeting the right girl/guy etc. There is also a place where you will find buckets of numbered sticks(with each representing a fortune) where you can shuffle a bucket and the stick which drops out represents your fortune, a traditional ...
...regular fortune-still need to be patient but my time will come and I will get what I want-let's see if that's true! After visiting the temple, you can do some shopping in Nakamisedori, the shopping street right in front of the Sensoji. Many shops selling souvenirs, especially those selling kimono bath robe. ... Bring your own entertainment!!!
Review of Tokyo - Narita, Japan (NRT) by marisapotter

Advantages: Places to buy food & drink if needed
Disadvantages: Untiday, All shops the same, uncomfortable seating... BORING!

I stayed at this aiport for about 6 and a half hours on my way to Australia last year... What a horrible place! Travelling on my own, and having absolutely no knowledge of Japanese were definitely things against me. Getting from one end of the airport to another was horrible. All the signs are in Japanese, and the ones that do have English are very small and quite complicated. Once I figured out where I was going, I was looking forward to getting ...
...on some comfy seats. Not the case. There are about 3 shops in the departure lounge I was in... all exactly the same. And one cafe, which had an interesting variety of nuts and other strange things... not what I was after! There are a few comfortable seating areas... miles away from most of the departure gates. So if you want to wait by your gate, you have to suffer with hard seats. Lovely. After finishing most of my book because there was nothing ... Read review

The Charm of Ueno
Review of Ueno Park, Tokyo by tee-chan

Advantages: peace, fun, tradition--rolled in one
Disadvantages: ??

This is the Japan's first public park opened in 1873 if my memory serves me right, and definitely, any tourist should visit it just before they go. It has a highlight of enjoyable pasttimes you might want to consider such as boat rides or a stroll around the zoo they have in the area, specially if you're taking your family along. You can also see the shrines they got erected here somewhere the 1630's. I've seen the Kiyomizu Kannondo and Toshogu Shrine ...
...astonishing. I mean, it was really well-preserved! You might also want ot consider visiting the Science museum or that of the Metropolitan as these two are just close by and, actually, joins the park in the so-called city border where Tokyo starts...and ends with peace and prayers for the day. Typically, it's your lost little paradise in this capital's urban maze. You might just want to explore it. And just so it's even worth, come around in spring, ... Read review

Advantages: A spiritual paradise admist an urban jungle
Disadvantages: none whatsoever

...Japanese in formal dress in Meiji Jingu, one of Japan's finest Shinto shrines. GETTING THERE Meiju Jingu is in Yoyogi Park - a short walk from Harajuku Station. The JR Yamanote line stops at Harajuku station, just by Yoyogi-koen. Come out of the station, turn right, walk up to the bridge, cross it and you're into the park. Alternatively, the Chiyoda Metro line stops in front of Meiju Jingu. HISTORY Meiju Jingu was built in 1920 to honour the ...
...Empress Shoken (died in 1914). It officially opened to the public on November 1, 1920. Formerly the Imperial Gardens, Meiju Jingu is made up of three parts: Naien - the inner area made up of several shrine buildings; Gaien - the outer area, which includes a visitor centre and memorial picture gallery; Gyoen - the inner garden. Meiju Jingu sits in an evergreen forest of over a 100,000 trees made up of 400 different species - all donated by people ... Read review

The world famous fish market
Review of Tsukiji Fish Market, Tokyo by medgenie

Advantages: interesting
Disadvantages: NA

The Tsukiji Fish market which is world famous. Every morning fishermen bring their catch in at about 4am and started the auction at 5. If you want to see the auction, you better start early!! After that the fish is distributed to various sushi bars and restaurant. We arrived there at about 8:30 and all the auction and selling were completed by that time. However, we can still see the goods of various stores before and the most fascinating thing was ...
...of sushi bars with supply from the auction only hours ago-very interesting indeed. The market is accessible by underground. From Tokyo to Hamamatsucho Station by JR Yamanote Line, and to Tsukiji-shijo Station by Toei Oedo Subway Line. Or a 10-minute walk from Tsukiji Station (Tokyo Metro Hibiya Line). ... Read review
