4 Stars Sore Feet City 05/09/2004
    User recommends the product

Advantages Advantages With a short visit you'll still be gagging for more and you get better value for money than London

Disadvantages Disadvantages Some may find it impersonal, my feet were so sore by the end and its another long review!

Originally known as 'Edo', meaning 'Gate of the River', Tokyo first became a significant city in 1603 when Tokogawa Ieyasu based his military government, or shogunate in the then unimpressive little town. Despite two massive tragedies, the earthquake and subsequent fires of 1923 and the Allied bombing of 1944/45, Tokyo ... more

Advantages Advantages Very nice trip, worth going back again

    Disadvantages Disadvantages No

Japan is always one of my favourite country to visit in Asia. Let me share with you my itinery in my last trip. This tour took place when I last visited my parents in Hong Kong. Day 1: Got up at 6 to get to the airport for the flight at 9am. After 3 and a half hours, finally arrived at Tokyo. Went to the toilet straight after, there are still two types of toilet(the Western and Japanese styles), like the way it was when i came a few years ago. Weather was not too bad, a bit cloudy but not too hot. Arrived at hotel at around 6 and started my Tokyo adventure after a brief break. Last time I ... more

Advantages Advantages Vibrant city that doesn't disappoint

Disadvantages Disadvantages it's big busy and confusing

Everyone who visits Japan enevitably passes through Tokyo at some time. Somepeople love it and spend most of their trip there while others find it a confusing nightmare and quickly head on. It is the one place in Japan which completely encapsulates Japanese youth culture and you can find pretty much anything you want here. Getting there- Most people will arrive straight from the airport, most commonly Tokyo Narita. The airport is a bit out of the centre so you have to take about a one hour train journey from the centre. From the centre you can get connections to almost every other major city ... more

Advantages Advantages The world within a city

Disadvantages Disadvantages Easy to get lost,

I recently took a spur of the moment trip to Japan when i had 5 days spare. As a student i wanted to get the most out of the few days i was spending in Japan, but when i arrived i realised that Tokyo was only the beginning. From the plane the terrain was incredible varying from beautiful mountaineous peaks to forests and rice fields. Then arriving in Narita Aiport, (60Km from centre of Tokyo) I realised i would have to go back. On a budget the best way to get into Tokyo i have been told was the Narita Express which takes you from the Airport directly to Tokyo. I did not use this route however ... more
