...costs, well this is the Mandarin Oriental and was always going to be an extravagance. We did not opt for the cheapest room but we were a long way from the most expensive as well, paying the equivalent of about £420 a night. To summarise I really enjoyed my stay here and whilst I would hesitate to call a £420pn hotel room value for money, I don't resent paying it and think I got just what I wanted and expected. ... Advantages: delicious cuisine and friendly staff
Disadvantages: not very intimate

Stellato is on the top floor of a beautiful Moorish looking building in the Minato-ku district of Tokyo (an area allegedly haunted by many ghosts!). You get to the restaurant via a dimly lit lift and then you are escorted by the incredibly attentive staff into the restaurant - or if you'd prefer an aperitif (which we did off course!), into the bar area. The restaurant itself is non-smoking so smokers can take breaks in the bar area between courses ...
...very personal touch to the Stellato is that each table has a card addressed to the diners (welcoming them to the restaurant), which has been signed by all the staff working that night. It was a Monday when we visited the restaurant so was quieter than most nights.
