A beautiful citadel perched on top of a hill (a 'breathtaking' walk!) with fantastic views. Renowned throughout Europe for quality of locally produced armour - from helmets, to swords, to full body armour and shields, it is all around you - shop after shop after shop.......fascinating!
Beautiful churches and religious ceremonies carried out in all their grandeur. Tiny cobbled streets and different attractions at every turn from tiny cafe's to lovely restaurants to a Lladro or armour shop or three.....atttractive squares with leafy fringes, art galleries dedicated to el greco (who we did't actually think much of when we went in to have a look!).
Ended up falling in love with a piece of Lladro or two (BA were subsequently not impressed with our bulky lugguage but were very helpful...) of which there were shops at every turn.
Transport from madrid was not that painful - can either get there by bus or train - about a hour costing under £10 per person. Cafe's can be pricey but what would you expect?
In all, beautiful place to visit - well worth a day or two - would thoroughly recommend it!
