...living in this district, there were a fair number of smallish Synagogues dotted around the area, of which this was the largest.
The old Synagogue has been preserved for posterity, although it has not been used for religious services since the mid-1970’s. The whole building then fell into a state of disrepair, until the Museum opened its doors in 1984.
It was officially opened by the former President of Israel Dr. Chaim Herzog during an official State visit to Ireland. He is himself Irish born, and his father, Rabbi Herzog, still lives in the area, and is the First Rabbi of Ireland.
~ ~ There has been a Jewish presence here in Ireland for centuries, and the first ever recorded arrival is recorded here in the Museum, in an old document called the “Annals of Innisfallen”.

...Ganesh festival is celibrated all over India with religious ferver. Pune has its own importance in this festival. All the ten days of the festival are celebrated with fun and joy. Special cultural programs are arranged on this occasion. Classical music and dance are the highlights of this festival. People are very fond of classical music. All the programs are having a good response.

Advantages: fun for families, the wonderful Albert Dock, unusual events Disadvantages: could be even bigger, and the weather cannot be relied upon ;-)
...If you're looking to go to this event in 2000, I'm afraid you missed it! It was held last weekend! It was the usual display of festivities, though. Although high winds caused some problems with the annual balloons across the river event, they did happen eventually. The River Festival includes many different events in and around the fabulous Albert Dock and along the riverfront. It really gives you a great feeling of Liverpool's heritage. This is a city with a proud past, which it is only beginning to exploit to the full. Coming to Liverpool without visiting the riverfront is like going to Paris and not climbing the Eiffel Tower!! This festival draws the public's attention to one of the city's greatest assets, and that has to be a good thing!...
