Advantages: Comfortable Small Hotel with Character Disadvantages: A tiny lift!
I've just come back from Geneva and had the privilege of staying in one of the best hotels I've ever visited. I have never stayed in a Swiss Hotel before and I understand they are all of good quality, but this hotel had so much character too.
Location (1 Rue des Marbrieres)
As I walked everywhere, I will give you approximate walking times from places:-
20 minutes from the main station (Gare Cornavin)
20 minutes from the Old town
15 minutes from the English Garden with the view of the Jet D'Eau
15 minutes from the main shopping area
5 minutes from the nearest supermarket (the Co-op is at the end of the road!)
5 minutes to the nearest bus stop
It's located in a quiet road just outside all the main areas - making it quiet but accessible for everything.

I had a single room - it was CHF220 per night - but I'd got a 3 ...

"next door noise" could be heard through the walls.I spoke to the two guys over the terrace railing next morning about this,and it turned out they were from a couple of miles up the road from where we live! I found the food fine,and ate far,far too much!Right;we wouldn't choose this resort or hotel for a future holiday-not as first choices,anyway.One,because we've now been there,done that;as the T-shirt is rumoured to proclaim;and Two;we prefer the Hotel "Planamar"(Another "H-Top") along the coast in Malgrat'. The calibre of people who wrote the damning reviews I read must socially be far higher than mine. ....but,most of these were dated '05/'06.Perhaps they were taken note of. Introduction ~~~~~~~~
Geneva is located in the south-west part of Switzerland is very near to France. In fact part of Geneva airport is in France.
If going on holiday to you means "cheap stuff" then Geneva and Switzerland in general for that matter is not your ideal holiday. Switzerland shares rip-off Britain prices and many things are more expensive there. The only thing that is cheaper there is petrol and fags.
Scenery ~~~~~~~~~~
The scenery in Geneva is beautiful near the lake. From the lake you can see into the Alps and see the famous Lake Geneva fountain. At night Geneva is stunning, the fountain is lit up and all the posh offices have fancy lights. (Like the ones Harrods has) On top of all that you are only a 20 minute drive to the Alps where there is more breathtaking scenery.
