A cheap hotel worth thinking about
Review of Clarion Hotel & Suites Selby, Toronto by ScottishWestie

Advantages: Location, price, clean rooms, good equipment levels.
Disadvantages: Limited choice of breakfast, no view from the room window

Stayed at the Clarion Hotel & Suites Selby for a week, it was very conveniently situated 100yds from a sub way station which is only a couple of stops from downtown Toronto. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants & shops should you decide to stay locally. It was built in the late 19th century & Ernest Hemmingway stayed there with his wife in the 1920s. The hotel still has that period look about it which won't appeal to everyone. Our room was situated ...
...was clean & quite well equipped with en-suite bathroom with shower/bath. Other facilities include air conditioning, telephone, comforatble queen size bed, iron & iron board, multi channel TV, sitting chairs, wi-fi, hair dryer & ample drawer & wardrobe space. The only thing missing was a view, our window looked onto a part external corridor & daylight could hardly be seen. There is no restaurant within the hotel so breakfast is served in a small 'breakfast ... Read review

Down and out
Review of Downtowner Inn, Toronto by chellbian

Advantages: cheap, quite central
Disadvantages: uncleanly, unsafe location

...and I stayed at the Downtowner Inn during September 2007. We were traveling on a budget, therefore the price of the hostel/inn was suitable- approx $380/ £170 for 6 nights. We reserved a double room with private bathroom and were given an adequately sized room, but with two sets of bunk beds, double at the bottom, single above. The main problem with this if you are tall is that you cannot sit up in the bed as my husband found out; he hit his head ...
...you were talking to. Downtowner Inn is situated just over a mile or so from the main attractions in Toronto's centre. Not too far to walk and one of the closest, if not the closest, hostel to the centre. However, the street on which it is situated is not ideal. At night, it can be pretty intimidating, with large groups of men, youths and homeless. NOT recommended for women traveling on their own. Realistically, I wouldn't stay here again. The price ... A great value for money
Review of St Lawrence Residences & Suites, Toronto by charlielal

Advantages: Right in downtown, Secure, comfortable, laundry, helpful staff
Disadvantages: small but good for money, no pool or restaurant,

I booked a single suite, a great value for money. For $90 I had a comfortable room with a comfortable bed. I did not expect a kitchenette, but there it was. Great to make quick meals. There was even a large fridge, microwave oven, dishes and all. It was rather small but enough for my needs. A complimentry phone for local calls, that really came in handy, as I had to make a lot of local calls. The internet connection cost $10 a night, but the highspeed ... Read review

luxury stay
Review of Windsor Arms, Toronto by danniell

Advantages: great hotel
Disadvantages: very expensive

The windsor arms hotel is situated on st thomas street toronto. It is a old style 4 storey building that has a beautiful elegant look to it on the out side and a fantastic inside. This hotel has 26 suites so is quite a large establishment with a lot of helpful staff and a lot of space. It has a fitness center, swimming pool, spa and barbers shop all inside the hotel. There is a choice of places to eat inside the hotel aswell as options of eating ...
...court yard cafe, club 22 bar, the resturant or tea rooms. The bedrooma are available in different sizes, our room had a king sized bed with white crisp linen that matched the theme of the hotel beautifully, it had mahogony old style furniture and had sliding doors to seperate the bedroom area from the living room area that has a settee, table and chairs and desk. The swimming pool is beautiful, well lit and a tear drop shape with steps gradually ... Read review

Where not to stay in Toronto
Review of Alexandra Apartment Hotel, Toronto by Astec123

Advantages: Apartment hotel room
Disadvantages: In need of refurbishment, badly staffed, not close to anything interesting

The Alexandra apartment hotel is just what you don't want in a hotel. We visited Toronto on a budget and this was a hotel within our budget however it was a blind leap in the dark as we had no idea what it was going to be like. The hotel was as it says in the name an apartment hotel with in room facilities, however this was about all it was. The hotel appeared from our 2 separate stays to be kept running and little more. Overall we were unimpressed ...
...hotel. The rooms were clean, however decor was a little less than appealing. The rooms we had appeared to have had the same furnishings since the early ninties if not earlier. The furniture was in dire need of replacing. Each room had an air conditioning unit above the window however these were not on for either time we checked in, something you expect when you get to a hotel as a courtesy gesture. Besides which the air conditioning may as well ... Read review
