My first holdiday abroad since I was 10, I was so excited :-)
We arrived at Murciaairport (about 20 miles or so from Torrevieja) and the first thing that hit me was the heat! It was 38 Celsius, lovely!
After the 30 minute drive we arived at our rented villa in Los Altos (just outside Torrevieja), it was very nice but had no air condition which was not so good haha...
Anyway, Torrevieja is a nice place though it seems half finished with pavements and houses being built all over the place.
There are lots of places to eat out, with various choices, Chinese, Mexican, Spanish (of course), Italian, Japanese and so on. The local fish market is excellent you can buy everything from crabs to shark steak. The sea food in the restaurants is generally very good too.
This would be an ideal place for older people or families to visit as it is mainly away from the main tourist areas with their nightclubs and so on. The beaches are also lovely and if you look hard enough you can find almost deserted stretches of lovely beaches (with life guards in attendance! - which I was suprised about, being that on some of the beaches there were only about 5-10 people). To find these beaches however you must look, as the town beaches get VERY busy.
I would however advise you to look into getting a villa/apartment WITH air conditioning as the temperature hovers around 28/30 degrees at night (it's the hottest part of Spain)

We propose some unforgettable holidays in "El Capistrano Villages", in Nerja, the privileged balcony of the Costa del Sol. "El Capistrano Villages" is, possibly, the most beautiful and exclusive Urbanisation on the Costa del Sol.
Advantages: The climate; extremely cheap even with the change from the peseta to the euro; and the fact that it's a residential area so no high-rises! Disadvantages: Extremely busy in the summer months now that it's becoming a more popular destination to live and to visit, graffiti
