The Tower of London, situated on the Thames is a large and impressive fortress that has a great deal of history behind it. I would recommend it to anyone. The crown jewels are here, and they're very impressive! I went there on a weekend. It was very busy. I took the guided tour option (included in the price) and was guided by a yeomen warden in traditional dress. The tour was very interesting. The guide made it humorous and gruesome at times. To think that criminals were often killed at the tower, then their severed heads were on display at Tower Bridge - just a few hundred metres away! The tour builds up to a grand finale - the crown jewels. I had to wait about 45 minutes to an hour to see them, but it was worth it! This is a great day out - take your kids. Nearest tube Tower Hill.
