BACKGROUND: Robert, (my boyfriend) and I had organised a weekend in London and this was one of the attractions that we wanted to fit in. I checked out the website www.tower-of-london.com which stated that prices were £11.30 adults and £8.50 concessions/children.
ATTRACTIONS: Crown Jewels (included in the price), Yeoman Guard guided tour (included in the price), Fusiliers Regimental museum (50p extra each), White Tower with armouries linked to Royal Armouries, Leeds (included in the price), Bloody Tower (included in the price) and New Armouries café.
TRANSPORT: We went by tube from Victoria on the Circle/District line to Tower Hill. This is the best tube station to get off at as when you exit it is signposted from the tube station as is only a few hundred yards walk (uphill though). You can also access this attraction from Tower Bridge if you are walking. I did not see any car parking areas so am unsure if you can drive to this site (check out the websites)
PRICE: £13.50 (adults), £10.50 (concessions – students, OAP, etc) not sure if child price same as concessions as did not have any children in our party. Guide book £3.95.
Disappointed with the website as it gave the prices as £11.30 for adults and £8.50 for concessions. This might have been a pre-booking price but if so it did not make this clear. Rechecked with http://www.hrp.org.uk (historic royal palaces official website) which gives prices as £13.50 (adults), £9 children under 16 (under 5’s free), and concessions £10.50 Family ticket £37.50 (2 adults and up to 3 children). If book in advance through website http://www.hrp.org.uk get £1 knocked off per ticket.

GOOD POINTS Yeoman guard tour took you round the site giving lots of historical information and insight into what went on in the Tower of London over the last 900 years. These were every half hour and there was a clock style sign explaining when the next one was. Robert really enjoyed looking at all the weapons and cannons – he wanted to take one home!
BAD POINTS Website gave wrong prices Lots of walking around Queuing for the tickets seemed to take ages as there were only 4 booths out of 8 open.
AFTERWARDS After the Yeoman guard tour, which ended in the Chapel, we explored the remainder of the Tower of London ourselves. Give yourself plenty of time in the Crown Jewels and White Towers as there is lots to see. We then went back to the Victoria Park Plaza hotel.
MORE INFORMATION FROM www.tower-of-london.com although the prices were wrong this was very informative and has a game (using Shockwave) which the kids would love – shooting arrows to save your head being on the block!
http://www.hrp.org.uk is the official website of the Royal Palaces and it is possible to pre-book online and have multiple entries to other Royal Palaces such as Hampton Court, which may be useful to know.
The Tower of London’s postal address is HM Tower of London London EC3N 4AB England

There are lots of stairs so not suitable for wheelchairs, physically disabled who have difficulty with stairs or pushchairs. Most of the towers are accessed by spiral staircases which are very narrow.
