The best hotel/attraction in Dubai

Advantages: Exclusive, brilliant, luxurious, great service
Disadvantages: very expensive

The Burj Al Arab also known as The Tower of Arabs is one of the major attractions in Dubai. It is located on a man-made island on the Persian Gulf. It was once the tallest building in the world used exclusively as a hotel. It is now the third tallest hotel due to two taller buildings being built, which are used exclusively as hotels just like the Burj Al Arab. The second tallest hotel is located in North Korea and the hotel leading the way is also in Dubai and is called the Rose Tower. The Burj Al Arab is a staggering 321 metres (1,053 ft) and is one of the reasons why Dubai at the present time is on of the most popular holiday destinations. The Burj Al Arab stands on an artificial island, which is approximately 280 metres (919 ft) out from Jumeirah Beach. The island on which the Burj Al Arab is located is connected to the mainland ...

Fantastic Luxury Hotel in Dubai

Advantages: Everything - a real experience hotel
Disadvantages: Cost - A little too far from Town for easy shopping/eating out

The Burj-Al-Arab (Arabian Tower) is Dubai and the UAE's answer to the landmark symbols of other countries, they compare it to the Eiffel tower (it's slightly taller by virtue of its mast) and other icons. The Burj is said to be the world's only 7 star hotel - this is something that has to be taken with a pinch of salt, hotel stars are usually awarded by national tourist authorities and in my opinion are rarely an indication of quality or value for money. I'm not sure who awarded the stars to this hotel but in this instance they are completely deserved and then more. From the moment we arrived at the airport we knew we were dealing with something special, the hotel's meet and assist "airport liaison" officer met us just before passport control - he took our hand luggage and walked us to the head of the queue, past the "priority ...

Review of Burj Al Arab Hotel, Dubai

The Towers Hotel, Ilfracombe

Advantages: Great views, lovely (and very clean) building, excellent hosts, close to town centre
Disadvantages: None

The North Devon coast is, for me, one of the most fantastic places in the UK. There are lots of activities to do in the area including surfing, hiking, cycling, horse-riding, scuba diving, wildlife-watching, fishing, and exploring. My wife and I have just enjoyed a stay at the Towers Hotel in Ilfracombe, which is an ideal location for visiting north Devon. The hotel is a spectacular Victorian-style building with the slightly-over-the-top architecture which could only work in a building of this era. The interior is kept in-style with the overall building and is exceptionally clean and tidy. Even the Victorian features such as the high ceilings, covings and high skirting boards were in clean, good condition which must take a lot of work by the owners. There is ample car-parking for all guests, and also a small bar and lounge area ...
