Advantages: A very historial Manchester building. Disadvantages: Outdated as a music venue.
...The History
The original Free Trade Hall was built in 1838 on the corner of St Peter Street and Southmill Street, formally known as South Street.
The original structure took the form of a temporary wooden hall which was built to hold protest meetings during the “Anti-Corn Law League” - the ordinary people protested against the 1846 Corn Laws as it was seen as a symbol of the dominant ruling aristocracy’s feudal power over them and of the suppliers' profiteering on the cost of the common man’s staple food.
The present Free Trade Hall, the third structure, and now a permanent stone building, was built later as a monument to honour the Manchester movement and is now a listed (government heritage) building.
During World War II, the façade of the Free Trade Hall was gutted by bombs –...

Advantages: Well thought out musical, which leaves its audience pondering! Disadvantages: Non unles your atheistic!
..."Whistle Down the Wind" is a major departure from Andrew Lloyd Webber's recent work. However, this is not necessarily a bad thing.
The lush, sweeping orchestral scores that characterized "Phantom of the Opera," "Sunset Blvd," and "Aspects of Love" are not entirely gone, as the gorgeous title song proves, but this is much closer to Lloyd Webber's "rock opera" work, like "Jesus Christ Superstar," or "Evita." Lord Andrew collaborates here with Jim Steinman, known primarily as a rock lyricist (most famously working for Meatloaf).

Advantages: Superbly Pretty Mediterranean-Style Village On the Welsh Coast... Disadvantages: Half the fun is getting there... or perhaps not.
.... The overall effect, in fact, was almost otherworldly. We wandered on, along the coastline, towards the Observatory Tower, which houses a Camera Obscura salvaged from a German U-boat. Further along, a folly lighthouse on the cliff top marks the village's most southerly point. Finding a steep and narrow trail that appeared to wind its way up on to the cliffs, we decided to follow it. The views were breathtaking. After about ten minutes, the trail dipped back inland, leading into a densely wooded grove. Our map outlined a series of walking trails of varying lengths, but we simply followed the first one we came across. Massive Rhododendrons abounded, their twisted branches laden with heavy, scarlet blooms. There were waterfalls trickling into tranquil little pools, and a Chinese pagoda encircled by ferns and flowering Azaleas. We meandered about...
