I am currently looking to get information on Round-The-World tickets as my boyfriend and I will be leaving the UK later this year to depart on a year-long back-packing adventure around the world!
I checked the website for Trailfinders - very useful.
I called the City branch (most convenient for me) and asked if they were open on a weekend - yes they were, very useful.
We arrived at about lunchtime on a Saturday and the shop was dead. We were greeted at reception and allocated a consultant to deal with our request. We told him what we wanted to do and he gave us a flight price and told us that Trailfinders' insurance was over-priced. That was about it!
We were expecting a little more than that... We told him we were first time travellers and had never been to any of the places on our intended route.
No advice about best time of year to go, visas, health, hotels, activities, how long to spend somewhere, how easy it is to change flights, how much that would cost, etc etc. No hard sell, no encouragement to take their product over anyone elses. No enthusiasm.
We were in and out within about 10 minutes.
Perhaps it was because the City is dead at the weekend? Perhaps we just got a naff consultant? Perhaps he wanted his lunch? Regardless - we definitely won't be booking our flights there...

Advantages: Great staff there. Knowledgeable and experienced. Spoke to Stuart and Geoff. They were brilliant. Disadvantages: wish tjhey had an office in Sydney. These guys are unique
