I don't even know any more...
Review of Great North Eastern Railway by DC-DanielColeflax

Advantages: some nice trains, good replies from customer service
Disadvantages: delays/cancellations, some staff, unreliable customer service

...general review... AN INTRODUCTION... Great North eastern Railways (GNER) are one of the companies formerly run by British Rail Intercity, when a reliable journey was the norm. Over time they have hit rough spots due to problems on the route, and several accidents, one or two major. One of the biggest being the hatfield rail crash. Recently GNER has done much better, however as said above my recent journey caused me to be less than impressed. THE ...
...to see them lose their great standards so soon before they leave. I would now say that if you do travel with them, you should probably not expect to much, however, if you have a problem complain:- it may take a long time for a reply, but it tends to pay off. Thank you for reading and I hope you have found this review helpful. If you require any more information please leave me a comment and I will get back to you or update my review as soon as possible. ... Read review

An expensive way to travel
Review of British Rail by maddie19710

Advantages: Gets cars off the road reducing air pollution
Disadvantages: Very expensive way to travel

I have had to use the train system numerous times with work and also personal reasons. I think the idea of getting cars off the road and using the train is a brilliant idea in principle however, it costs a small fortune to take the train with work travelling from Birmingham to London will cost me over £100, this is a dam site more than it would cost me in petrol and the chances are i will have to stand for most of the journey due to lack of empty ... Megatrain.com
Review of megatrain.com by PaulineLees

Advantages: Cheap, flexible, countrywide travel
Disadvantages: None

Megatrain.com is absolutely fantastic, I cannot sing it's praises enough! The same concept as megabus.com, this company provide amazingly cheap transport around the UK. In this case, via train. The main network of deals travel in and out of London connecting with different Cities. Megatrain.com do not have their own trains, rather seats or carriages within trains that are already running. These are with companies such as Virgin and South West ...
...comfortable. All bookings for Megatrain are taken online, where you can select your desired travel times and dates, and are presented with all available options. Portuguese TGV- The Best Ride I've Had!
Review of Alfa Pendular High Speed Train Service Lisbon-Porto by bigush

Advantages: Very cheap, Very Comfortable, Very Fast
Disadvantages: Bit too fast to take in the scenery

...but a review of the Alfa Pendular high speed train service that runs between the two cities. Lisbon and Porto deserve at least a book each, their being two of the most picturesque and interesting cities on the Iberian peninsular. On a simple level Lisbon (Lisboa) and Porto (Oporto) have the same relationship and rivalry as do London and Manchester in the UK. Lisbon is where the money and power of Portugal are centred, whereas Porto has traditionally ...
...two cities known as the Alfa Pendular. It is a sexy looking TGV clone built by Siemens of Germany, so you know it's going to work! Its top speed is 220 kph. This is of course around 125 mph, the speed our Intercity 125 trains rarely achieve. The Alfa does however but not for the whole journey, on average three quarters of it. I know this because each of the six carriages has a LCD display at both ends which show speed, temperature (inside and out), ... Read review

connex southeastern
Review of Connex South Eastern by Deal_lion

Advantages: Fast
Disadvantages: very expensive, not comfortable, not reliable

...trains Despite Connex constantly releasing statistics saying how trains are no where near as late as they used to be, I think that these 'statistics' must be false as I am constantly plagued by late trains. I have known trains to 'disappear' by vanishing from the screens and not turning up at the station. Today (13-04-2007) I had to get the train to and from a local town and both trains were delayed the outbound journey 12 minutes and the inbound ...
...of trains With Connex it tends to be roughly a train an hour and during peek times this becomes two and hour, which in all fairness I think is actually sufficient. However on the school run every morning there needs to be more carriages added as they try to fit about 800 children onto a train with seating for only about half of that and despite complaints from all the schools in the area nothing has been done to help this issue. Comfort ... Read review
