Last week I had to attend a meeting in Croydon and decided to travel by tram from Wimbledon. I had driven between the two places on several occasions and thought that the tram would make a refreshing change and have the added benefit of avoiding the difficulty of finding suitable car parking in Croydon.

The first ticket machine that I tried in Wimbledon was out of order so I ended up buying a ticket (£1.30 single to Reeves Corner) from a member of the South West Trains staff by the platform.

The tram duly turned up after about five minutes and I was suprised as to how busy it was at 1.15pm. The journey was smooth and the tram built up quite a head of speed between stations. I arrived in the centre of Croydon in about 20 minutes, far quicker than it would have taken me to drive, let alone park. The return from George St. to Wimbledon was equally efficient and left me convinced that Tramlink are definitely on to a good thing and that this is undoubtedly the best way to travel from Wimbledon to Croydon. I recommend to everyone faced with this journey.
