At first we were some of the furtunate ones,flights on time, picked up keys for villa(no Probs) what an holiday this will be we thought. on arrival at villa WOW,5 beds 3 baths it does not get better than this,wife was happy(rarity) kids were happy..only 1 slight problem, there was no safe an issue which we raised with our friendly brummie caretaker..."Ahhh son you will not need a safe here" oh how i remember those words.... The next day after a fantastic day at the magic kingdom we returned to the villa and found we had been burgled... All the cash we had left in the villa that day had gone,travellers cheques had gone,my phone and digi camera stolen and some of my sons clothes,they had even stolen my sons birthday cards which were due to be opened a few days later.. We called the local sheriff who arrived within 10 mins and appologised for the delay...(just thought i would mention that.) Anyway after a sleepless night on the sofa with my girls crying and saying they wanted to go home we paid a visit to travel city directs office on lake buena vista regarding a transfer as we feel we could not settle in the villa as the ease on which they got in had to be seen to be believed. The tcd rep adam (little american with a big attitude) said he had arranged for us to be transferred to an hotel on international drive and for us to hand our villa keys in. On arrival at said hotel there was no welcome commitee in fact they did`nt know what we were talking about and sent us to their sister hotel further down the road.On arrival here they too were not expecting us, we were now homeless in orlando, i was now sat in an hotel reception with a crying wife 3 children and suitcases without a room..The hotel receptionist went beyond her duties and tried contacting tcd, on the 5th call she got in touch with a tcd representative who told her a fax would be coming confirming our transfer.we waited and waited then for good measure we waited a bit more,eventually the receptionist again phoned tcd who again told her the fax was coming.She gave us a room key on the strength that a fax would arrive. The room was a single room with a folding bed, our hearts sank, had i saved for two years for this but we decided we would make the most of it as the kids were noticing we were not happy. Anyway, on leaving the hotel 12 days later i asked for my room bill as we had watched a movie on the previous sunday during hurricane jeanne, i got my $20 note out as i thought this will cover it..When the receptionist said my total bill was $1250 i did not know whether to laugh or cry.. I again explained to the manager regarding the transfer and asked if they could contact tcd,this they did and again were told a fax would be coming, this time we had to leave as we were going for our plane.. On arrival back in good old blighty i phoned my credit card and was told i had paid the $1250 after all. It is now 6 weeks later and i am still trying to get a refund from tcd who you can phone to make payments but can`t to complain, i have sent fax`s, recorded delivery letters but still no reply, sorry, i got a letter appologising about hurricanes......
how i wish i had bought a baseball bat, tried to settle my kids down and stuck it out in the villa instead of relying on tcd...
ps. i am now seeking legal advice and hitting every forum i can,if anyone as any other ideas i am willing to listen as i have nothing else to do at this time as i am skint...lol

We had a 52 hr delay at Gatwick (24hr Max caused by 1 hurricane) arrived Orlando no accomodation, went to Miami to relax after 2 weeks again no accomodation paid againfor 2 rooms at nasty hotel (all bookeded - MTV awards) moved to correct hotel after £60.oo of mobile calls evacuated by hotel due to 2nd hurricane again no accomodation booked, due to fly on sat, but delayed until Wed. Spoke to your "friend" adam on Tues having heard on the grape vine that the flight was now leaving Tuesday pm what a shame they forgot to tell anyone, half empty flight, passengers taken off Weds flight which eventually left before us still waiting for compensation/reimbersment seeking legal advice
