Travel Inns are the best cheap hotel chain in the country. There are approx. 250 of them around Britain including ones in prime spots such as central London, the middle of Leeds and seaside towns like Blackpool and Brighton. A large proportion of the Inns have been built in the last 10 years and as a result are still shiny and new. However even with the older Inns the quality is consistently good. They are always clean and modern. The layout of the Inns and the bedrooms is near enough the same anywhere you go even down to the pattern on the bed covers and make of television. All bedrooms have 2 very comfortable double beds, one is usually a bed settee, and cots can be provided for babies. There is an en-suite bathroom with bath and shower. The showers are absolutely brilliant, very powerful and an endless supply of hot water. There is a television in all rooms and a kettle with tea, coffee and biscuits provided. You are able to use an iron and ironing board if you so wish and hairdryers. The rooms are large enough for families and the cost is the same whether you are on your own, in a couple or a family of five as you pay per room not per person. The charge has increased over the years obviously but is still excellent value at around £40 a night and £55 for London's central Inns. You can request Non Smoking rooms as well. All the Inns have pubs attached to them, either Beefeaters, TGI Fridays or Harvesters as there is no bar or restaurant inside the Inns. All the places provide excellent food and the Travel Inn can reserve you a table if you want. Apart from the bedrooms in the Inns there is just a reception where the staff are always friendly and helpful. Travel Inns are best for one night stays as for a longer stay you may want a gym or a bar if you were staying longer but I think that they are such good value and so comfortable that you could stay much longer if you wanted to and save yourself a few quid at the same time. There is a central reservation line that you can book a room through although you can ring each Inn individually. Although the Inns tend to be near to motorway turnoffs they are often in town/City centres and are never too far from the action. I have stayed in lots of Travel Inns over the years and would strongly recommend then for the cost, the comfort and the convenience. They are as good a some hotels are certainly the best of all the Travel hotels chains. By the way, my personal recommendations are Manchester Salford Quays and Leeds City Centre Inns.
