I have lived in Coventry for almost four years now. I originally moved to the area to do my degree at the University of Warwick, but now I live and work here.
Now buses. This is a tricky subject to write about. But im going to give it a go.
When I first arrived in coventry I lived on campus and, as such, didn't use public trasport too often. The buses from the university to the city centre always ran every ten minutes so there never really was much of a wait.
The problems started in my second year when I moved off campus. I then had to catch a bus every morning to get in for 9 o'clock. Now where's the problem I hear you ask, and no it wasnt getting up on time! The problem was that by the time the bus got to my stop it was full and wouldn't stop. So I had too choices, get to university an hour early or miss the first half of my nine o'clock lecture. Mostly I stayed in bed!
Now moving away from this, to modern times, the problem I find at the moment is that the buses just arent clean. Sometimes the smell of sick lingers on the air as I travel to work, or the floor is just sticky and covered in litter. Some of the buses are far too old also, and I have on occasion felt unsafe whilst travelling.
TWM also never seem to stick to a timetable. Buses come when they feel, usually two or three at a time. Which all in all makes for some cold and wet waits and the bus stop, which doesnt even have a shelter.
Another problem TWM have had is the necessity to have the "correct change". If you dont then you might end up paying £1 or £2 for a 70p fair.
Now i feel I shold balance this opinion up slightly. A few good points I find are that the bus passes are cheep, only £28.25 a month at the moment and they are easy to renew in various shops and post offices.
Also their website has a good route and journey planner facility and there are online timetables that you can check before you leave for your journey.
To finish all I can say is that I use these buses twice a day at least, so it cant be all that bad, but TWM could do alot more for "customer satisfaction" and they really need to improve the quality and reliabilty of their service. All in all they will get you from A to B, but do you really want to go that bably

It's enough to make you go out and buy a car, eh? How is this supposed to be encouraging us to stay out of the car and onto the buses and trains?
