Travelcare has a policy of it’s “The Customer’s Right to Know” an open policy which will tell people exactly what to expect form their chosen destination and resort.
Unlike other companies that I will decline to name, no bonuses are paid to staff members to favour a particular company; instead an overall bonus is shared between the staff of 1500 people in branches all over the county. These bonuses are for overall ...
...true? I have been using Travelcare for many years now. I was a civil servant and holidays must be booked the year before to ensure there is sufficient staff to keep the system running properly. My first time I tried Travelcare I was at my wit’s end. I had booked two weeks in June and had also had to book the cattery well in advance, the Summer months are soon booked up and I had two cats to board out. My partner and I wanted to go to Rhodes, but ... more

They Really Do Care

Advantages: Good product range, helpful staff, good knowledge of products
Disadvantages: Sometimes you can find cheaper prices elsewhere

...I then was introduced to Travelcare by a mutual friend. COMPANY DETAILS These days I head off to Travelcare as a matter of routine. The company claim to be the largest independent travel agents and have no direct link to any tour operator. They have a policy called the Traveller's Right To Know which gives you an unbiased view of the resorts and properties. They are one of the few agents who will offer you to the travel agents bible to look at. ...
...SERVICE As well as the wide range of brochures - from the major tour operators such as JMC, Airtours and Thomson - you will also find companies such as Intersky, Libra, Transun, Golden Sun, and Balkan given equal importance when you want to select your trip. When you go to look for a holiday here allow plenty of time. You will not be offered the Thomson options (as will be the case on a trip to Lunn Poly), Airtours only (Going Places). The staff ...

Travelcare promise in their advertising to “match any price….”, or at least they did until I visited complete with my quote from Portland Direct, whereby after turning some interesting shades of green, they quickly changed this to “match the price of any other High Street Agent….”, oh well, not one to be perturbed, we gave the poor tour operator a long list of holidays to price for us. ...

Value for Money

Extremely Un-Co-operative...

Advantages: I guess they're usually quite cheap for the high st
Disadvantages: don't honour their quotes and treat customers rudely

At the top of the Ciao charts, everyone seems to be singing the praises of Travelcare, however a recent experience means I would not consider booking with them in the future. I felt I needed to write this opinion in the interests of balance… We recently visited one of their branches to enquire about self-drive holidays to Northern France, and were shown a selection of holidays by a helpful adviser. We eventually settled on a two week break ...
...we needed as well as being very good value. We obtained a price including the long ferry crossing to St Malo (= shorter drive), and were on the point of booking when their computer system crashed. As they were due to close within the hour they said it would not be restored until the next working day, but I was concerned we might lose this terrific deal if it couldn’t be booked there and then. I was assured I needn’t worry, but to reassure ...

Truly Independent

Advantages: Extremely good range of holidays and very honest advice
Disadvantages: Not very well advertised

...finding suitable holiday deals. At Travelcare however they had several packages that appealed to us and their descriptions of the holiday resorts were incredibly honest. We really did not want to end up in a touristy, commercialised destination which was packed with screaming kids, and if this was the case, Co-op Travelcare told us! We eventually settled for what was promised to be a quiet, peaceful resort in Cyprus, which was exactly what we got. ...

Disadvantages: There aren't that many branches

...went into our local Co-Op Travelcare in Birkenhead and we ended up talking to some very nice people. In the branch they have a list on the wall of all the locations that the staff have visited and they will give personnel advice on a location or resort if they can. If you want either 3 days or 3 weeks and will this company will recommend something suitable for you and within your budget. ...

Strange room numbers !!!

Advantages: great location, not far to main shopping area
Disadvantages: noisy at night, strange room numbering

I booked this hotel through an agent (just the hotel, travelcare if memory serves.) a group of us went there last year and the hotel was great, except for a couple of niggley things. first one being the strange way the rooms are numbered! you'd have like room 12 then something like room 237 next to it on the same floor! it took us a while to work out. no porter service it seemed, to help show you to your room, the elevator was tiny (2 people and bags only), and being used as a service lift to take linen up and down in, but the rooms were ok, and quite roomy, en-suite too. the downstairs bar was excellent and full of characters up for the craic, but very noisy later on (till about 4am) if you are at the back of the hotel. we checked the room prices and it worked out a lot cheaper to book through the travel agent, than just turning up ...

Told not to go im glad i didnt listen

Advantages: Trying something new
Disadvantages: Told not to go with Kosmar

After talking about going on holiday since last year with my other half and two other friends we finally booked our weeks holiday in Jan 2002 with Travelcare. Our total holiday (including parking and isurance) came to a total of just over £300 per person. Travelcare offered some good deals. None of us had been to Greece before and we were told Kosmar were a good company to go with as they are Greece specialists. At a previous travel agents though we went into I was told not to go with Kosmar as they had a lot of complaints about them and their service. I was a little unsure about booking with them after being told this but I think that agents were just trying to get us to book one of their holidays (as they are owned by a tour operator) Before going on holiday Kosmar sent a booklet with lots of useful infomation about ...

Kardamena hosted a great holiday for us

Advantages: Cheap food and beer. Great weather. Loads to do
Disadvantages: Night flights. Wine quality variable.

We took a 2 week holiday in Kos last May (2000) We stayed in Kardamena. In short, it was the best holiday we've ever had! We booked it through Co-Op Travelcare and paid £270 each (inc insurance). The tour operator was Kosmar and we stayed at the Cleopatra Apartments. Kardamena is a lovely resort. It has a good mixture of everything, restaurants, sports, bars, clubs (only a few and they have to shut their doors at 12.00am to keep music noise in!) and almost guaranteed weather. My partner and I enjoyed our fortnight in Kos so much that we have booked to go back this May to the same apartment with some friends! We found an excellent curry house whilst out there, I think it was called The Taj Mahal, the dishes were very authentic and we ate there on around 6 days of our 2 week hol!! (we do like curries, you see...) The local ...
