Our family does not have particularly large amounts of money to throw around when it comes to holidays, but this does not mean that we want some shabby accomodation in a place we don't want to go.
As such, we generally book our holiday last-minute. We first tried the web, and were looking more for general ideas for deals that were available than to actually book a holiday online. We did not find anything particuarly desirable on the web, so decided to try our local branch of Co-op Travelcare, which had recently been relocated to the towncentre and drastically revamped.
We soon realised, however, that this beauty was not just skin-deep! This particular year (late Summer 2000) we really had left it to the last minute and were having trouble finding suitable holiday deals. At Travelcare however they had several packages that appealed to us and their descriptions of the holiday resorts were incredibly honest. We really did not want to end up in a touristy, commercialised destination which was packed with screaming kids, and if this was the case, Co-op Travelcare told us!
We eventually settled for what was promised to be a quiet, peaceful resort in Cyprus, which was exactly what we got. There were absolutely no problems with the holiday, except that it wasn't long enough! It really does pay to be indepentent when it comes to Travel Agents.
