I stayed at this hotel for two nights either side of a trip to France in October 2008 and found it to be a decent hotel for the purpose of our trip. We had stayed at a Premier Inn the previous year and didn't particularly like it, so based on a previous stay with Travelodge we decided to book with them.

I had done some research and the hotel itself was located on a leisure park just off the motorway. It has a Little Chef, KFC, Frankie & Benny's and Pizza Hut for food and a cinema, health and fitness club and a couple of nightclubs for entertainment. I liked the idea of staying somewhere where there was several choices for food within walking distance, which was not too far from the ferry port at Dover.

We arrived at about 7pm when there was quite a lot of activity, people coming in and out, but we were checked in quite quickly and were able to go to our rooms within about ten minutes. Our rooms were on the second floor and because we had some bags with us we decided to take the lift which was quite small and seemed to take a long time to arrive.

The room was fairly standard for a Travelodge, big double bed, sofabed, desk, tea/coffee making facilities and bathroom. Our room was clean and tidy but showing it's age a bit and could have done with a refurbishment. There were enough towels and pillows, although if you wanted a hairdryer I think you had to ask at reception.

Downstairs there was a bar and restaurant place where you could get food, although you weren't short of food options within walking distance.

We didn't have the breakfast as we were on our way to catch a ferry but I liked that it was available and I think it was all you can eat for a set price.

The bar was well stocked and decently priced, and there were the usual vending machines for snacks and drinks as well other travel essentials.

Check out was quick, it's all pre-paid so it was just a matter of dropping off the key. There was no-one around when we left and it was quite busy so we just dropped off the key and went on our way. We did have a letter at home after we got back saying that they were sorry a member of staff wasn't available to personally check us out and that they hoped we had a pleasant stay. I thought that was a nice touch.

Although we were about 25 miles outside of Dover it was a good quality hotel for two nights while enjoying a trip to France. The road links were excellent and it took hardly any time at all to get to the ferry port.

The cost was £108 for the room for two nights. We could have got a cheaper deal if we were more flexible but we wanted a weekend away so we were stuck with the £54 per room per night charge.

I would definitely visit this Travelodge again, as the location on the leisure park made it quite a desirable location for us.
