I stayed at the Travelodge Belfast in October 2007. The reason for a trip to Belfast was a concert to which I had received free tickets. I left booking the hotel til a couple of weeks before the concert and there wasn't a great deal of choice available.
We paid £79.00 for the room, I booked it on a site where I paid 10% deposit and paid the reaminder on arrival at the hotel.
We stayed on a Monday night, we got the bus from the airport to the EuropaBus Centre which is located in the city centre. We walked the short distance to the hotel (it is basically down a street and across the road - about 2 minutes walk). We found the hotel easily and were greeted by the receptionist who was very friendly and enthusiastic about the city and the concert we were attending. We were checked in quickly with no problems. The receptionist spent a lot of time talking to us and told us the best way to get to the venue and what to do after the show in order to get a taxi back. She gave us the number for a taxi back.
We were directed to the lift, and went to our room on the 3rd floor. The corridors were a little dated but no major problems. The room itself was a fair size, clean and had a double bed, open wardrobe, desk, tv, hairdryer (their website actually says that if you needed a hairdryer these were only available at reception). The bathroom had a toilet, bath with shower and a sink and was also clean. It was a basic travelodge room, no frills
Our room overlooked the entrance which was on a road but we never experienced any noise from traffic or people etc.
On going out of the hotel we had to leave our key at reception and we called a taxi from the freephone located at the reception desk. On returning to the hotel we just had to collect our key room reception. I felt this was a good security measure and there was no chance of losing the key!
We didn't experience any noise from other guests and the bed was comfortable. The next morning we experienced only problem with the hotel, when using the shower it was very hot and turning it to the cooler setting didn't make the water , much cooler. It was only just bearable to shower in but as we were only staying one night it wasn't a major issue for us. We did not have breakfast at the hotel as it was not included in our rate.
We checked out of the hotel easily and again the receptionist was friendly. We wre informed there was no luggage storage room but were directed to the tourist information centre which is located approximately 5 mins walk away. As we'd only been staying one night we didn't have much luggage but if you have big bags/suitcases it would be difficult to get them to the tourist information centre without getting a taxi etc. Depending on how long you wanted to leave your bag the cost was approximately £3.50 for up to 4 hours or £6 for 4 hours plus (but we actually only paid the cheaper amount as they said we only had small bags).
The hotel was located right in the city centre, near the shops, theatre, city hall etc. Taxis are plentiful and cheap Although we didn't got to any bars, pubs or nightclubs these were all within walking distance too.
All in all, the hotel is basic but in a good location. It was cheap enough but could do with a few updates. I would stay here again on a stay in Belfast but i belive there are possibly better hotels for a similar price.
