You mean there's STUFF to do in Oklahoma City?

Advantages: Friendly people, inexpensive, laid back - slower pace
Disadvantages: Not on a coastline

I'll be honest - if you're looking for breathtaking scenery around every curve then you probably wouldn't like Oklahoma. For one, there aren't many curves in the road. That would require hills or some other geological formation for the transportation department to design a road other than straight. If you're looking for a city that never sleeps, Broadway-caliber theatre or celebrity attractions then you probably wouldn't like Oklahoma. Remember you're pretty much in the heart of the bible belt and although there's plenty of parties and nightclubs to be had - per capita, it's probably lower than most. You're doing fine, Oklahoma

Advantages: Classic show interpreted brilliantly
Disadvantages: Disadvantages? What disadvantages?

The shows of Rodgers and Hammerstein are the stuff of musical legend ? possibly groundbreaking, depending on who you ask, they certainly altered the standard bill of fare on Broadway during the 1940?s and 1950?s. Two of their shows stand head and shoulders above the others, at least for me: South Pacific and their very first collaboration, Oklahoma! And yes, the exclamation mark is (as with Oliver!, Honk! and Hello, Dolly!) an essential part of the title. This video preserves the award-winning revival of Oklahoma! at the National Theatre as funded by Cameron Mackintosh in 1999. Starring Hugh Jackman and Maureen Lipman, among others, it outshines the Hollywood film on every point, and is a truly marvellous video.
