Travelodge, Portsmouth

This isn't the worst hotel I've ever stayed in, but let's be honest it comes close! It is very hard to be disappointed in a Travelodge. Given the expectations we have to start with (it's not so much that most Youth Hostels have more character and warmer welcomes – more the fact that I suspect so do most night-shelters), how hard do they have to strive in order not to live up to our limited requirements? We arrived at the Travelodge at around ten pm after a long ferry journey back from France, all we needed was a good night's sleep before our trip back to our home in Wales. When we got to the hotel there was a sign on the front desk saying that there were no more extra pillows available for rooms as they had all been given out earlier that day. Now seeing as the room had been booked for three people we assumed that they would have supplied enough bedding for that amount.
