Hi, I am trying to write reviews of places that I have visited. Hope they are helpful to people going to those places. I'm currently in university and every single pence helps to finance my travels. Cheers !

I have heard about this hotel chain for a long time and the online £10 supersaver rate looks very attractive. In April 06, I had to attend an event in Slough and the organiser booked me into TravelodgeSlough. I was sent a confirmation code and was told that it would be £61 including breakfast.
I got into Slough railway station at half seven in the evening and then I was told to take a taxi to the hotel since that's more convenient. It only took a few minutes ride and I paid £3.60 for the taxi.
The hotel looks nice from the outside but upon entrance, it looks simple and really a no-frills hotel. There's a queue at the reception and there's only one staff on duty. The other staff with her uniform on told
me she's on her break and told me to wait to be served by the staff on duty. The staff on duty is friendly and tries to have a small chat with every guest that is checking in. The guests in front of me are all checking in and it took an average of 5 minutes for each person to check in. By the time I could check in, I was asked to give my full name and confirmation code. Then, the receptionist asked if I wanted breakfast the next morning. I told her that my organiser told me £61 includes breakfast but the receptionist said i booked through an agent and the agent takes £5 off the £61 as service fee thus £61 does not include breakfast. In the end, I paid an extra £6.50 for breakfast.
I was given a key card and the key card gives access to the building and the lifts. One of the lifts is not working and I couldn't go up to my room on the 6th floor so I went back to the reception. This time, the staff on her break helped me and I was told to insert my key card in the lift before pressing anything.
My room on the 6th floor is of good size and the furniture are all very new. There's a kig size bed and there are two cups with a kettle. There's a TV and a wardrobe. That's it. I just needed to stay there for a night so I didn't require any hairdryer or ironing board etc. I was told that if I require a hairdryer and iron I could get it from the reception on a first come first serve basis free of charge.
Hot shower with strong water pressure. No shampoo etc. Basically it means you have to pack your own toiletries and that's why the hotel room is at such a cheap rate.
I found everything ok in my room and was quite happy to stay there for the night. Everything in my room was working (the lights, TV, kettle). The only problem with this hotel at night is that I could hear people walking outside my room and when they shut their doors they tend to bang them. Besides that it's ok.
I went downstairs to the reception again before going to bed and asked them to book a taxi for me the next morning. The staff did it quickly.
The next morning, I went down for breakfast at 7am. The bar cafe was supposed to be open from 7am but it didn't. A few people were already waiting outside so I waited with them. At 7.10am, the cafe is open and it's quite a big one. I gave my breakfast voucher to the staff and then went on to get my food. It's a all-you-can-eat buffet and there's hot English breakfast + continental. There's fresh orange juice, coffee etc. Kids can eat for free so I think this is good for families with kids. The cafe wasn't crowded at that time probably because it's still early.
You need not check out at this hotel because you need to pay immediately upon checking in. Just leave your key card at the reception. The taxi that the hotel booked for me is already waiting outside. Punctual.
Generally, I would say that the staff are efficient and friendly. I would stay in this hotel again if I have to go to Slough on business. However, for leisure, maybe I would choose elsewhere because there's nothing near the hotel and I was told there's nothing really to see in Slough. If you need to go to Windsor Castle, staying in Windsor is a better choice.
Another thing that I forgot to mention is the bar cafe. It serves hot food until 10pm at night but I didn't try them so I can't say anything about it. There are also rooms for disabled people. Family rooms for 4 are available too. It is also at the rate of £56 if booked on the day.
Not sure about car park because I didn't bring my car. The railway station and bus station are very near the hotel so it's quite convenient.
The receptionist told me to book early next time and I could get a room for only £10 or £26. I'll see.
