Having never been to the states but always wanting to go I searched high and low for a holiday that would allow me to see plenty whilst still allowing time to relax, that’s when i found travelsphere.
I decided on their “America’s Golden West” 12 day break which cost £699 for 12 days in November 2001 this price is based on 2 people sharing. The tour does start at £599 depending upon time of year. Booking is easy and can be done over the phone or on the internet.
So what do you get, well for a start the price includes UK and US airport taxes and all hotel taxes in the states, which is excellent as you will stay in no fewer than 5 hotels over the course of your stay.
Travelsphere provide a tour manager for the duration of the breaks who will keep you informed of departure times and places to see that are not on the tours. Included in the price is a tour of Vegas which takes you to all the major hotels, a half day tour of Las Angeles taking in Hollywood sights such as the Hollywood bowl and Beverly Hills, and a half day tour of San Francisco where you will cross the Bay Bridge and Golden Gate Bridge.
Flying from the UK you arrive in San Francisco about 10 hours later where you board another plane for the 1 hour flight to Las Vegas, this is where your Travelsphere tour manager will link up with you.
With Vegas as the starting point you will take in Palm Springs, LA, Hollywood, the Pacific coast including the famous 17 mile drive where some of Hollywood’s top stars reside, Santa Barbara, Carmel, Monterey, Solvang (a lovely Swiss style village) and finally San Francisco.
There are optional excursions which are considerably cheaper through Travelsphere, for which you will be given a list at the start of your break, a flight over the Grand Canyon at sunrise, Disneyland Hollywood, Universal Studios Hollywood, an old wagon ride into the desert in Palm Springs, and evening dinner and cocktails on the 47th floor of the San Francisco Hilton hotel being among the best although there are many more available and they are about 15% cheaper than arranging them yourself.
The tour manager took care of checking in and out of hotels and gave invaluable advice about area’s that are unadvisable to visit for safety reasons as well as recommending places to eat and at no point did I feel uninformed even though she had 50 tourists to deal with.
Overall I found Travelsphere to be an excellent holiday company and i can think of no complaints with them.
Travelsphere provide package holidays and tours throughout the world and I for one will be using them again for future excursions.
