Bill Wyman's TreasureIslands, Britain's History Uncovered (co-written by Bill Wyman and Richard Havers) is a most excellent book.
Bill Wyman, rock musician, somewhat controversial man-about-town and history buff? Everyone has a dark secret in their lives. And Bill Wyman's is that he is a closet metal detectorist. Well, not so much closet, now he has written this book!
Wyman relates how he bough his first metal detector in 1991, after a trying period in his life, and then spent many happy hours and days tramping round the fields surrounding his home in rural Suffolk. Always with the permission of the farmer, of course.

Everyone dreams of finding treasure some time in their life; the anticipation, the adventure, notoriety and boundless wealth. A tale of a young man going from a humble background into a much wider world (or Universe in this case) than he is used to and how he survives on his travels. It's an idea thats inspired movies such as Goonies and this is quite a nicely different retelling of the tale. Anything that involves pirates, mutinies and treasure hunting has got to be good.
Visually for sets and location backgrounds it looks excellent and is generally a wonderful adaptation of Robert Louis Stephenson's TreasureIsland. I've seen a lot of different versions including The Muppet one but this is by far the best of them all. The animation and characters are excellent, the voice cast aren't all that bad but they aren't easily recognisable voices as I ...
