Advantages: Comes in Lots of Varieties Disadvantages: Food colouring gets on hands
I love this time of year, the weather usually improves and we finally get a little bit of sunshine. In addition a bored six year old can finally get outside and play in the garden. Usually however he invites the entire street to come and play with him also which inevitably means that I end up spending a fortune on buying ice lollies and ice-cream cones for them all. I was shopping in my local Morrison's and decided that to save myself a fortune this year that I would invest in a rather large tub of ice-cream, a metal scoop and some Askeys cones. It is these that I will now review.
The shelves were full of this type of product however the reason that I chose Askeys cones was due to the fact that my son liked the picture of the funny face on the front of the box and the rather appetising looking picture of a strawberry ice-cream cone ...
Advantages: A change from the bog standard cornet. Disadvantages: May send some kids E crazy!
In the constant quest for "something different" ice cream wise, I found these little beauties hidden amongst the jellies and instant whips at my local Asda store.

These come in a large rectangular box, blue and bright green in colour, on the front is the "askeys" brand name at the top over looking the product name.
The title simply states "21 party cones", the 21 and the cones part of the text is a cream colour but the party part is in vivid and eye catching colours.
In the right hand corner there is a cartoon clown eating one of the party cones filled with strawberry ice cream and a small starfish with a wand ,and the statement underneath reading "create a little magic!"
Finally there is a small oval cut-out in the right hand corner to show ...
Advantages: Inexpensive, Respected Brand, Cool Disadvantages: Some components need upgrading (but thats the fun 'aint it)
The 2004 Cinder kone by Canadian Northshore manufacture's is uphholding a long tradition of stiff, light(ish) hardtail xc bikes. Previous cinder cones were steel but this model makes the transaction to 7005 butted aluminium , which saves weight without losing any of the feedback and stiffness. The front suspention is provided by a marzzochi mz race fork which is excellent for the price range of this beast. The fork is oil and spring dampened and is plush and resposive ideal for cruising over small rocks and rooty singletrack. The other selling point of this particular model is the shimano cable disc brakes. To be honest I have never really been a fan of cable discs, I find them spongy and unresponsive and prone to cable stretch, so they are the first things to be replaced with a nice set of mono minis. Other componentry on this ride ...
