trinidad & tobago
Advantages: Lots of Clubs Disadvantages: little expensive
They are many places to go and see in Trinidad and Tobago. And they are many types of foods to eat. In Trinidad and Tobago you can try "Roti", which tastes really good. You can also try "Shark and Bake", but if you don't want to try any of the island foods you can go to "KFC", "SUBWAY", "BURGER KING" "TGI FRIDAY'S" or " RUBY TUESDAY". Trinidad and Tobago is very pretty and most of the people are friendly. Things in Trinidad and Tobago are a little ...

Gran Coulan Spa
Advantages: ALL FACILITIES CLOSE AT HAND secure and safe Disadvantages: Staff abused animals
Tobago
On holiday with my daughter at Grand Courlan Spa resort. From 14th April to 26th April 2007 The first night when we arrived at the hotel, we were told of a cruel instance of animal abuse by hotel staff. There was a stray dog, one of the” beach dogs” foraging for food around the hotel. She is a lovely docile black puppy about 5 months old. A party of guests were on the dance floor being taught Latin American Dancing, when the rather large ... ...probably almost boiling water over the dog. The dog squealed and yelped in pain and ran off.
We were befriended by the dog the next day and gave it food and water. The dog appeared to be relatively uninjured, but the fur on her upper left leg appeared very mangy. By the second day, bald patches began to appear in this area of her legs and these patches continued to grow larger. The exposed skin appeared blistered and septic, caused by the original ...

Scuba Diving in Tobago
Advantages: Fantastic unspoilt reefs Disadvantages: Need a car to get around
It was October. We couldn't face the Red Sea again - and despite the bombings in Sharm there weren't any good bargains. We'd already spent too much money on other holidays last year so we wanted 'cheap and different'. Tobago was the solution and it worked out really well.
We booked with Regal Dive - www.regaldive.co.uk - who flew us over with excel airlines. I was nervous - there are some dreadful reviews of that airline doing the rounds. Honestly ... ...half the time at the Toucan Inn and half at the Inn on the Bay and we dived with the World of Watersports dive centre which is based at the Hilton.
World of Watersports is an excellent dive centre. The equipment is of a high standard, the guys who run the boats and the divemasters are funny, friendly but always attentive to health and safety. The guy who runs the place is from Jersey - obviously likes little islands - and he runs a tight ship. One ...

Wine, women and soca - did I miss anything?
Advantages: different Caribbean experience Disadvantages: costs
When people hear the word Caribbean, immediately pictures of women in grass skirts, white sandy beaches, cocomut trees and primitives with spears come to mind - this will be a very big surprise when it comes to visiting Trinidad.
I was not aware that there was a section on this site dedicated to travel in general and came across several reviews of Tobago, but none of Trinidad.
Geographically, Trinidad and Tobago are located at the southernmost ... ...Venezuela.
Politically, Trinidad has the problems of every first world nation - traffic, noise, etc.
Population: Trinidad is made up primarily of Indian immigrants (too much history for this page) and African immigrants, plus a healthy section of Chinese, Syrian, American, European and Spanish people.
Religion: Christianity appears to be the major religion, while that is closely followed by Hinduism and Islam (don't worry, we already checked them ...

Twin-Island Paradise
Advantages: Sun and warmth all year round, beautiful beaches, great for families or singles Disadvantages: Tourists tend to be ripped off with prices and you need a car to get around
I write this with some bias as I am from Trinidad and am accustomed holidaying in Tobago. Nonetheless, I think I can share some genuine 'local' info for foreigners interested in visiting.
Trinidad is a fantastic place to visit for the Carnival which always takes place the 2 days before Ash Wednesday (the beginning of Lent). Carnival is an experience you can never really describe. It is something you can only experience for yourself and for the full ... ...Carnival starts from several weeks before, with the steel pan competitions and the huge King & Queen costumes parading on stage, not to mention the Calypso and Soca contests. Excellent stuff!
Year round, you can always find things to do in Trinidad, with the beaches (best are Maracas and Las Cuevas in the north, with Manzanilla and Mayaro on the east coast) and the naturalist centres like the bird sanctuary, the waterfalls, the pitch lake (a natural ...
