Advantages: Reasonably central, fair pricing, very clean Disadvantages: smallish rooms
...My folks presented my husband and I with a suprise weekend in Paris for our honeymoon in 1999, staying in the Libertel Elysse Sablon.
The (double) room was not huge, with ensuite. The hotel was very clean and staff friendly, even when we arrived 5 hours late due to delays at Heathrow.
Breakfast was traditional continental style, with good selection of fresh breads.
It was reasonably central, being about 20 minutes stroll from either l'arc de Triomphe or Eiffel Tower.
In the close locale there are a reasonable number of small bistros or if you wanted to go further afield it's about 5-10 mins to the nearest metro stop.
Overall the value was fair for Paris, as it was reasonably central. A larger room would have been nice, but lets face it - there's so much to do in Paris you're not going to be sitting in your hotel room watching the TV!...

Advantages: warm in summer, romantic, architecture, street cafes Disadvantages: street entertainers wanting money for nothing, Hotel Favart
...My boyfriend and I travelled by Eurostar to Paris last summer and I can truly say it was the most wonderful holiday we have ever experienced. Disneyland Paris was the first stop and it is far more attractive than its American counterparts. We had to take the metro to Paris and carrying our luggage up four flights of escalators was a struggle, but it was worth it.
Our first hotel was a great disappointment - Hotel Favart. It was a total dump and we were only allowed to leave and cancel our reservation after I flooded the lobby with tears.
A very fast taxi journey took us to Hotel California on Rue de Berri, just of the Champs Elyesse. I will never forget turning the corner at the Place De la Concorde and seeing the Arc de Triomphe for the first time. Forget the Eiffel - Paris is about architecture and the Arc is incredible.
I could go...

Advantages: So much to see. Disadvantages: Eating out can be expensive.
...Whether it is for a special occasion or just a weekend away, Paris is the one city that everyone 'must' see. From the day we arrived it was a whirlwind tour, we didn't know where to go next as there was so much too choose from, beautiful parks to walk in , building are magnificent and the museums are one on every corner. The Eifell Tower takes your breath away and I would recommend you first see it from the Trocadero building. The Cahmps Elysee at night is something else, all the chic parisiennes and Tourist mingling....
