I would rate this hotel as a top 4* and am basing my opinions on having travelled to all inclusive hotels in Mexico, Dom Rep, Kenya, Tunisia and most of the med resorts.
ROOM: Fantastic, big and comfortable with a TV (Eurosport is on and BBC World, the rest are useless), sofa and fridge (noisy). Air con worked absoltely brilliantly. Our room was 5118 by the smaller pool and we literally walked straight out of the patio door onto a small terrace right next to the pool (didn't pay any extra for this) - a brill location and the best room position i have ever had at a resort. If you stay in this room, please feed the little birds that come up to the patio door, we fed them bits of bread all week and they will be missing us now!
POOLS: 2 pools, one large, the other a bit smaller. Really nice and clean, usually quiet and plenty of loungers available, you could have arrived at 10 and found one and great for swimming. Osama the pool guy is really nice and chats to everyone, he works 14 hrs a day, 7 days a week and apparently gets £1.70 a day! Shocking
STAFF: Much much friendlier and pleasant than i was expecting! Always efficient, friendly and courteous, they have a good sense of humour too. We needed an extra bed in our room, it arrived within a minute! We also advised reception that the patio door would not lock and it was seen to within 5 mins - excellent service. All the staff are male and they do flatter the women a bit, but they're not too pushy. We gave our cleaner (mahmoud) a sun hat and he was made up, he asked us to put his name (and his friend Reda) on a customer satisfaction form so he could show his manager.... you will be asked to do this quite a bit if you make friends with someone.
DRINKS: Whisky and Brandy disgusting. Beer is good, they can do a shandy at the pool bar....very refreshing. Best drink by far was a Gin Sour (recommended by Ahmed in the lobby bar), Gin & Bitter Lemon. No ice at all, but just about cold enough if you drink quick.
FOOD: Absolutely fab, pleany of local specialities and a few trad. English. Apparently the pies were lovely! I liked the local flavours though. Food always hot if you stir the trays before you scoop. The desserts are absolutely 5* and the best i have EVER seen/tasted in an all-inc hotel. They really are top class deli cakes, it's like Gerrard's shop window, only bigger, better and you don't have to pay, so you can try loads! There's gateaux, fruit flans, bread & butter pud, mousse, choc tart, sponge cakes even jelly and trifle. I don't usually eat pud, but i did here, there was just so many i would have liked to try, but couldn't fit them in! No stomach problems whatsoever during the week, and we only ever seen 1 person smoking whilst we were in there-good hey.
ENTERTAINMENT: Just poor really. Local dancing, lasted half an hour on a small stage by the pool.
WEATHER: Boiling hot all week, Osama kept telling us it was 36 in the shade! Didn't see any mosquitoes, only flies - bit of a pain.
LIBRARY: There is a small ibrary above the lobby, just bring one book with you if you like as there is a good choice of English books/magazines to swap with when you're finished.
LOCATION: This hotel is in the middle of nowhere and there is a great view of the sandy/mountainous surroundings if you go on a top floor at the end of the smaller pool. You can walk to Naama bay in half an hour i believe but you get hassled by traders. Unfortunately the 3 terrorist explosions went off in Dahab while we were staying, so we didn't venture out, but everything carried on regardless in the hotel.
OVERALL: We found the complex to be outstandingly peaceful and relaxing- only a couple of kids and no rowdy pool games-great. So, don't come here if you don't like sunbathing/reading/realxing all day! Suitable for couples and anyone who is looking for a high standard peaceful holiday.
I thoroughly recommend this as a very high 4* and will definately return to Egypt again as there is plenty i would like to see and do. I have come back with a very good 1st impression of Egypt's people, their food and cleanliness.
Advantages: Great food, clean and friendly. Disadvantages: No beach, lost sister Hotel Grand Oasis, the 5.30am sunbed securing
Just returned from this hotel, very nice clean friendly hotel with a fantastic restaurant, but my only gripe is that the hotel is no longer part of the 'Tropicana' group and as such the deal is off as far as using the 'Tropicana Grand Oasis' facilities and beach! It's now owned by 'Amarante'
This makes a huge crimp in your stay firstly as a beach user or snorkeller as Garden Palms has no beach and the bus service run by the hotel now takes you to ... ...can imagine the beach is crammed full, so it is difficult to get shade when you need it and it's not particularly clean, second problem that arises from the 'no beach' situation is that if you want to sit around the pool a bed needs to be secured with your towel by 6am, this is made a problem by not enough beds for everyone and no-where else to go, plus beware of others guests that tip the pool attendants a backhander as they then put the towels ...

Quick review of Tropicana Garden Palms Hotel, Sharm El Sheikh, Egypt
This hotel changed hands just before we went (early May 08) and there were issues with the drinks service in the bars and restaurant. Shortage of clean glasses, asking for drinks to be brought and being ignored or passed over for other guests and not being offered refills, to name but a few. This was a shame because otherwise our experience was positive. Massive rooms with king-sized beds and free aircon, lovely pools spoiled only by the terraces around them which needed maintenance, and tasty food in the restaurant with plenty of choice. About 30 minutes walk from the centre of the action in Na'ama Bay which is no problem if you're young and fit. ...

Stayed here in October 07. The hotel is a bit isolated and away from the beach.
Food was generally fine but served in a canteen environment. Drinks were all local and only the beer OK. There is also an Italian restaurant which you have to book for, although it never seemed to be full. This was a much better place to eat.
There was an Eid holiday whilst we were there and the hotel was full. Some nights were a struggle in the restaurant and we couldn't ... ...The main one was very noisy with loud music most of the day. The other one was much quieter. Sun beds got 'booked' very early, although we always managed to get one.
The rooms were a good size but very bare and in need of some refurbishment.
Service was good and friendly. ...

This hotel was fabulous! We went for 2 weeks in 2006 and loved it. I went with my girlfriend and enjoyed every day. The hotel was clean and always well maintained, everyone was helpful and polite and the views from the balcony were exceptional. The food was wonderful, arabic cuisine but there was great variety each day. The grills outside were very nice and provided an nice alternative to the restaurant food. Water is free and readily available in ...
