Tryp Blanche Fontaine Hotel, Paris

Advantages: warm in summer, romantic, architecture, street cafes
Disadvantages: street entertainers wanting money for nothing, Hotel Favart

...My boyfriend and I travelled by Eurostar to Paris last summer and I can truly say it was the most wonderful holiday we have ever experienced. Disneyland Paris was the first stop and it is far more attractive than its American counterparts. We had to take the metro to Paris and carrying our luggage up four flights of escalators was a struggle, but it was worth it. Our first hotel was a great disappointment - Hotel Favart. It was a total dump and we were only allowed to leave and cancel our reservation after I flooded the lobby with tears. A very fast taxi journey took us to Hotel California on Rue de Berri, just of the Champs Elyesse. I will never forget turning the corner at the Place De la Concorde and seeing the Arc de Triomphe for the first time. Forget the Eiffel - Paris is about architecture and the Arc is incredible. Advantages: Central, cheap, quiet

...This Hotel is close to the centre of Paris, and at less than £20 a night is a marvellous find. Close to many of the grands magasins, as well as hundreds of colourful individual shops, it is a perfect base from which to explore Paris. Although the hotel rooms were not the most spacious ever encountered, all were en-suite and cleaned thoroughly everyday. Covered in posters from various 'spectacles', and with a parrot in residence in the foyer, l'Hotel des Arts was truly welcoming and well worth visiting. Local restaurants - of many different nationalities - were cheap and the friendliness of this part of Paris cannot be underestimated. Although the hustle and bustle of Parisian life was at the end of the street, the enclosed nature of the road meant that noise wasn't a problem. All in all a cheap, friendly place to stay in Paris... Advantages: right near all the good attraction
Disadvantages: no real great views

...This is a great hotel in a great location for all the paris attraction and a very short walk to the nearest metro station. This can link you to anywhere in Paris. The metro is a great method of transport around the city and a day pass can be bought for next to nothing. The hotel itself is actually right next door to the Hilton (your in the posh area) and is within 5 mins walking distance of the eiffel town itself. The hotel is very clean and tidy and the rooms are very smart and well maintained. If you are wanting a picture postcard view from your room then think again. A lot of the buildings in paris are high rises so most rooms look out on either the street out the front of the hotel or out the back where you can just about catch site of the river. Drinks in paris are notoriously expensive to buy. I really fancied a beer... Read review
