I use Alicante airport for my annual break in Spain and find it is convenient and fairly easy to use.
It is situated just outside Alicante on the Costa Blanca, around 46.5km from Benidorm. It is within driving distance of Valencia, around two hours and 179km.
Arrivals
You would probably fly to Alicante if you were staying in Benidorm, Torrevieja, Altea, Calpe, Moraira or Teulada. It is popular with budget airlines such as Easyjet and Bmibaby and there are flights from many regional airports in the UK such as East Midlands, Liverpool, Bristol, Newcastle and Stansted to name a few.
There are around ten car hire companies who operate out of the airport including the big names like Avis, Europcar and Hertz, these desks are located in the arrivals hall and can get busy at peak times. There are also local car hire companies who ...

Google searches for Asturias hotels led me to the Tryp Hotel in Oviedo, and for reasons later explained, I booked.

What was the hotel like, where was it situated, how much would it cost, could I trust it with a booking, - you can imagine, the questions going through my mind.
Online, I discovered that the Tryp Hotel in Oviedo is part of the Sol Melia group of hotels. It is a chain that figures quite a lot in Spain, and USA, in various European countries, in Africa and Asia but with only one hotel in UK - The White House in London. I have been in this hotel on two separate occasions, and although it has some flaws that other people may not find acceptable, I would most defiantly recommend this hotel.
This hotel is in a very central place, quite possible one of the best locations if you want to see the city. It is situated in the old town, close to the Castillio Santa Barbara (the main castle), The port, Cathedral. Church of Santa Maria, town hall and museums. Its also about a 2 minute walk away from the beach, Playa de Postiguet. Generally, the location is very good, but there are a couple of draw backs. Firstly, the distance from the train station if you're planning on visiting the local area. It will take about 20 minutes to walk there, however, you can easily catch a bus. Secondly, the noise.
