I lived in Guadalajara for six months. It is Mexico's second biggest city, and very modern with an airport, department stores etc.
There are some things well worth seeing, such as the famous mariachi festival, where groups of singers from all over the world come for a parade, dressed in traditional costumes you see on tequila bottles. Guadalajara is famous for mariachi, who often serenade you in a restaurant, and take requests! Some might find this a bit kitsch, but others will love it. Guadalajara is also the birthplace of tequila, very touristy but very fun!
Guadalajara is good for the more well-off tourist, and particularly families, as you can live in great, modern comfort. There are loads of good restaurants, and beautiful plazas with French style colonial buildings, benches, trees and modern art. It's a good city to ...

My experience really started with the decision to use a no-frills airline to do a cheapie European holiday last summer.
The problem was that the cheap flights from Belfast were alll booked up and we could have got a package holiday for the flight costs to Prague, Barcelona and the like.
Suddenly, I came on Stelios's new Easyjet route to Asturias from Stansted. I had to get the maps out to find out where it was, and check online to see what the area could offer - it all looked good.
We were soon booked for this beautiful part of Northern Spain - reviewed by me elsewhere ...

I was luck enough to go to Cuba a short while ago (november 4th 2004) for 17 days at the fabulous tryp cayo coco, what a tryp it was!
This is the most amazing hotel and for those who say it isnt..you must be really hard to please...i read many reviews before i went so had very mixed feelings but when i arrived i was just blown away..a true all inclusive hotel with stunning beaches, great people, very friendly staff, excellant well equipped rooms, stunning views, great food ( especially the pasta! ) and i didnt get bit by one mossi!
we paid £799 each for 17 days so its real value for money too and i would go back in a flash, im going this year in fact!! same hotel same room everything!!
