...The Hills is my guilty little pleasure. There's backstabbing, friendships, boyfriends, clubbing, making up, breaking up, in fact this programme has everything! The Hills is actually a spin-off television series from the very popular show, Laguna Beach. This show followed a bunch of high school students through their life in Laguna Beach, California, a very affluent, beautiful area right on the coast of Southern California. One of the main characters was Lauren Conrad, often referred to as LC. She, in my opinion is quite a pretty, nice mannered girl, if somewhat spoilt. She has the clothes, looks, long blond hair and drives a very nice convertible car. I do like her and I think she is quite entertaining. ...Despite it?s huge success , the film Notting Hill had never appealed to me . I don?t know if was because of the fact that I was only about ten or eleven when the film came out , and so because of the ?cover? of the DVD , as a child , I instantly thought ?that looks boring? , and so I had always had that opinion of the film , despite the saying ? Never Judge A Book (or in this case , a film) by it?s cover). However , many years later , I am sat in a media studies lesson in college, when the teacher tells the class that we are going to be watching clips from movies and then analysing the setting , speech , lighting , etc. The first film to come on was Notting Hill. ...So what exactly is The Hills? The Hills isn't a film or TV drama but it is a reality programme produced by MTV. It follows the lives of four girls living in Los Angeles. The show isn't scripted and everything that happens within the show is actually the girls' real life. Fans of Laguna Beach will already be familiar with Lauren Conrad. After appearing in MTV's reality programme Laguna Beach, Lauren, (or LC as she was formally known by her friends) has moved to Los Angeles for a new life in the city. The Hills is a spin off to Laguna Beach, and also follows three other girls, Heidi, Audrina and Whitney. The show began filming in August 2006 over a nine month period and shown on MTV before being released onto DVD.
